Still hanging in there... coming up on 3 weeks.
|
I had just the one breakdown last weekend during the Steeler game, but have been OK since. Shouldn't be an issue this weekend as Pittsburgh is going to kick the Patriots a$$.
|
I am going to be "desiring" them a LONG time. I'm not sure how to descibe the grip, not physical but definately a strong mental one. I need another hobby or something.
|
*****.
Mom called. Dad's 95% probable Laryngeal cancer. How timely. Guess I'm in now too. Oh well, only had a couple left anyway... |
You guys are doing great, hang in there!!!
|
The desire just went away.
Good luck dhoward with your father. |
Thanks.
I appreciate it. |
I'll try not to get all sentimental on you guys, but I'm really proud of all of you. In truth, I was surprised by the number of volunteers and the strength of commitment. Brothers, I am impressed!
Be strong. |
I feel quite a bit of pressure not to disappoint the board.
|
How is everybody doing? I am still clean (04 Jan Quit Date) but am still fighting the cravings, some times real bad ones. For dhoward, the key to quitting is to quit before you have too. Sounds easy but it is not. I am battling weight gain by working out more and eating less. I did triathlons years ago and have a plan to get back into them. Again, thanks to the board for all the help, and yes there is strenght in numbers.
|
I'm pissy.
But it could be worse. I have a lot of little projects to keep me busy. Worst in the morning with coffee. |
If you guys make it through (I really hope you do), you will look back and see that you had a real monkey on your backs.
Hang in there! |
I wish my dad could go cold turkey like you guys. I hope it works. You have a lot of people behind you. Keep up the good work!
|
dhoward - my morning coffee tastes much better now.
Maxwell House now tastes like Starbucks did when I was smoking. |
After my grandfather was told he had lung cancer (which has since gone into remission after chemo, surgery and radiation), he had to give up his morning coffee. He didn't miss the cigarettes except when he had his coffee when he got up, so he quit coffee at the same time. He's been smoke-free for 2 years now, but I just wish he would have quit smoking BEFORE he developed lung cancer.
|
Too cold here to smoke my ribs out doors.
I'm making due with the oven and gas grill. Go Steelers. |
Hey BTW...... No smoking after the Steelers lose, this will NOT be an acceptable excuse:)

!@#$%^&
|
I had one Friday night; out boozing, you know. I thought "wonder if it'd still taste good", expecting, and hoping, it wouldn't. So I bummed one of my former flavor from a guy... and it tasted really good.
"Crap. Well, do I really want to start all this again?" and I smelled the "smoker's smell" on the guy from whom I'd bummed, " No." I smoked half of it, dropped it in the bucket and went back inside. I later in the evening (and the bottle) told one of my favorite jokes, for which a cigarette is virtually a prerequisite prop, and didn't even puff. The next morning, I was hacking like I'd smoked 2 packs. None since; lost interest. JP |
Lets hear the joke:) I was VERY close to having a drunken 5rag or two myself. I held strong, but it was close. This chick next to me noticed I kept turning toward her. She said"Oh, I'm sorry is my cigarette bothering you?" My reply was something like "No, in fact I would prefer you blow it in my face since I just quit" I wasn't kidding, but she thought I was being sarcastic:) Lead balloon!
