Angry Pelican Spam??

Administrators: What's the deal with BannanaJoe using the BBS to send spam PM and e-mail?

It's unavoidable. Just use the usual methods for reporting (PM the admins, or report spam posts) and we'll deal with it. Spammers, not content with ruining email, are now trying new and creative ways to bother people.

I seriously doubt this is Pelican's fault.

This kind of stuff is big business and things like this are going to happen. Get a free webmail account and stop registering at internet forums with your regular email.

No, it's not Pelican's fault - it's easy to write a script that goes through the member list and uses the forum emailer to spam people. This is just another spammer going after all the car forums.

Didn't this spammer do the same thing last year? I recall getting a PM, but this year it's a PM and an email. Maybe it was Rennlist last year...can't remember. Technology marches on!
Actually, I'm quite surprised the list doesn't get spammed more often. It's a pretty big list of subscribers with an expensive habit!

I didn't say, nor did I imply, that it was Pelican's fault. I merely asked what was going on with Pelican spam.

Hey, I'm quite excited to be in the next Cannonball/Gumball type Rally in the states. How do you guys think my 133hp miata is going to do. Kind of like the tortoise and the hare, I think. Slow and steady.

It was also in my spam folder. So my screening works.

This *****head is committed to spamming the entire world, and he's discussing it openly here:

"Last Friday we launched a guerrilla marketing campaign in which we reached 1 million members of the "car enthusiasts" community on 20 different forums in the USA, UK and Germany. It was a great success and we received dozens of new applications. The sooner the Ultimate Rally marketing phase is over and all 100 team slots are filled the better for us. Our plan is to sell ALL driver slots and all guest passes before the end of this year. It will allow my team to focus entirely on organizing this event. Therefor we are going to launch a second wave of advanced ultimate guerrilla marketing."

What a scumbag. Read a few threads here:

http://board.*************.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=2

Since, unlike most spammers, he's clearly identified himself, I wonder if he might be sue-able?
