Best place to buy appliances?

I am remodeling my kitchen. So I am at the step where I have to buy a stove, frig, and dishwasher. Where is the best aka. cheapest place to get this stuff?

I don't think there's a "best" place for price; like electronics the fix is in on the prices. I'd decide what you want/need then look for sales as that stuff is always on sale somewhere.

One tip I have is to compare models carefully, places like Lowe's and Home Depot have models specifically made with different features to make it difficult to compare prices on like units, sometimes it'll be small features and settings but look for the hidden things like sound deadning (dishwasher).

Garage sales. All those couples getting divorced, taking whatever you offer for thier shattered hopes and dreams. Gotta love it.

buy from local shops. Discount warehouse type places are killing this country.

Walmart is China's 4th largest customer.

I remodeled my kitchen a few years ago. I select off the web the KitchenAid models I wanted. I ordered through Lowes and saved several hundred over the closest competitor.

My wife and I are currently doing the same thing, except its the entire house. For the appliances, Lowes has some good prices. They also have a 10% off coupon up to $10k purchase that is good till 1/2/05. If you are buying all your appliances from Lowes, they should give you a 10% break as well even without a coupon. We also visting The Great Indoors, which is a new Sears home superstore. There are some good prices there.

For a dishwasher, look at the Bosch models. They are as silent and as energy efficient as you can get. You standard fridgs such as Kitchenaid are quality. They just have the one motro and half the life of the top lines such as Sub Zero. It just gets my goat that you have to pay $2k plus for a fridg that is a built in (24" in depth) so it doesn't stick out 5" from the average cabinet.

I would keep away from Wally World and the like unless you know exactly the model you want and you can get a better price. Chances are, however, the quality products will not permit such stores to sell their products.

As an aside, the thing that gets me with "We will beat our competitors price by 10%" advertising is that no one seems to carry the same models. Hence, they have no competition to beat.

Let us know what you find.

Depends on how much you are spending. Remember that when buying a lot, you can negotiate.
