Why did you start smoking?

My Dad smokes to this day - My grandparents both did and Quit when my Grandfather had his first Heart Attack - well - he quit - my Grandmother took a few years to quit.

My Sister smokes, my Brother smokes and a lot of my friends smoke. I tried it a few times but it just made me sick. I tried other substances and had some fun with them but decided that it was time to stop and quit those other substances cold turkey without much effort.

MY sister lives with me and has trouble paying her bills. She didn't have any money all through december to buy Cigs but when she got paid that was the first thing she did. I darned near kicked her out for it.

I used to when I was 15. Me and my friend used to steal them from his grandmas house and go back out in the woods and smoke them..or at least try to. It took a coupla tries before we got it down right (we tried to swallow the smoke which made us violently sick ). I kept going til I was 16, getting to the point where we were even stealing her misty 120's instead of her marlboro lights thinking we could get a better rush off the longer ones (and boy did we!). Then the cops caught us smoking on the side of my house one afternoon when my parents werent home (I lived down in NC at the time...right smack in the bible belt). They came over to us and confiscated the stogies and waited for my mom to come home. Boy did I get in trouble for that one .

I was given two choices. I could continue to smoke, and I could be the first 16yr old living on my own, or quit and have a roof over my head.

To this day I still have a roof over my head .
