My car hates me! Does it ever went?

God damn, I can't catch a break. I woke up late this morning, I already should have been at school 25 miles away when I woke up, come out side and....it rained. Which normally isn't a problem, except that my battery box leaks, so the water ran down onto the DME and the surrounding carpet. So my carpet is ****ed. I fogot to put my passenger window up last night when I was done troubleshooting some ****, and I my books were on my seat. Yup, $250 of books nice and wet. Oh, and all my notes from classes, too.

And to top it all off, I looked behind the driver seat and there was a nice nasty water spot on the carpet. Yup, hatch leaked. Don't know why, or from where, but it leaked. In addition to all the carpet that was wet behind the passenger window area.

Does it EVER ****ING END? Everytime something gets fixed, something else breaks. I'm thinking about selling it, and ridding myself of the whole experience. Maybe I'll buy a 914 next summer. A restored one.

Oh yea, and when I got school, after driving much too fast and flying through traffic.....Class was cancelled.

"My name is Slow, and my car hates me..."

You could have it worse... A guy I went to school with had an older Bronco that he had the engine rebuilt in about a year before. He got home to his cheap ass apartment one day after we worked (didn't have school that week) and his engine caught on fire. Burned through the firewall and the vehicle went up in flames. He grabbed his keys and cell phone, but neglected to grab his books and tool kit for school.

Unhappy

So you over slept, and left the window down in the rain ruining your text books...
And that is the cars fault?

Sell the 944 and get a Honda, twenty year old sports cars are better suited for joy rides than reliable transportation.

If you're angry about a rusty/deteriorated 944 battery box, you'll pull a Basil Fawlty on a 914.

Oversleeping? My fault. Leaving the window down? My fault.

Battery box leaking? Rear hatch leaking? Electrial short comings? Hmm...

I know it can always get worse, or be worse..but ****, what a bad way to start the day. That's all I was really getting at.

At least I got to sit around and surf the internet for much of the school day, since class was cancelled. That has to count for something, right?

Can't buy a Honda just yet, not ready to give up on the 944. It just needs some guidance, TLC, and a bunch of money .

These cars really suck when the are your only tport and $$ is short. No doubt about that. I did that for awhile and struggled through it. Would not recommend it. Your current car problems dont sound that bad--it runs right? Spend an afternoon fixing the leaks then decide what to do with it.

Toady - your problem stems from a few simple, yet unavoidable truisms:
1) You are youthful (and most likely poor, but don't feel bad, most students should be poor. And don't take being poor as an absense of wealth per se, you just lack the required disposable income of say a salery of >$75,000 a year to support your car.)
2) You are not wise but not stupid - there is a difference, stupid is as stupid does - you just misplaced a few pieces of experiences and did not apply them accordingly.
3) You left your book in the car because you were out A) looking for some tail, B) getting some tail C) Pullin pud.
Therefore the books got left behind and forgot till the rain set in.

So, in a nutshell, Toady is Young, Dumb and Full of Cum.

HAHAHA Rick...oh man that was good. Really good:-P

Yea, I've got to figure out how I am going to close the battery box leak. I'm on this kick now where everything is getting fixed PROPERLY. No ghetto or half fixes. There is only two ways to do things, right? Since the battery box is rusting, I'm wondering if I should sandblast it, weld in patches, primer it and shoot it? Not really sure.

This particular car has quite a bit of "sentimental value" and what not. It's one project I'd really like to see through. It's a good feeling when you come outside, look at your car, and realize that you fixed it, upgraded it, and kept it nice. Not to mention the amount of blood and sweat that went into it BEFORE I even BOUGHT it. You know how many oil changes it takes to buy a 944 at 16, pay for insurance, gas and parts? About 17,000. Ask me how I know...

Just a sentimental 944 rant:-P Some day it's going to be finished. Hopefully I can get to the paint in spring/summer.

Well then... if B) or C) are true he is no longer full of...

I would just get rid of that car. You can find decent 1986 944 out here for $3K. Problem is you will spend $2k a year fixing everything. Dump it, buy a used Subaru and come back to a Porsche when you can afford a decent 911.
