What only in america? It's a fake news story. Do they not have fake news sites outside America, is that what you're saying?

Note the name of the site: ***** "your premium non-news service." Their front page's title: "****** - Spreading disinformation since '04"

Edited - references to spyware site removed. -Z-man.

Pretty pathetic way to install spyware on people's computers, fockwad. If you ever show your face I will stomp you but good, and not because of your deficient wanker.

Moderator, please delete this thread and ban this poster from their IP address. This is a virus/trojan horse/spyware/etc. scumbag. Thank you.

Use firefox, problem solved. In my opinion anyone still using IE deserves to get viruses/spyware/popups.

Edit: I guess deserves is a little harsh. I’ll just say that if you are using IE you are leaving yourself very vulnerable to the bad stuff. For me it’s just not worth it. It is true that some sites don’t work in Firefox, but as it gets more popular more sites will be formatted for it. Also if a site doesn’t work in Firefox I just right click on the page and go to “view this page IE.” I believe it’s an extension called IE view. I can’t even remember the last time I had to use it, so more and more sites are conforming to Firefox.

I thought the user and his post looked fishy. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to check more thoroughly before leaving work today.

Now he's banned, and the link is removed.

To those who clicked on his link: check your systems for spyware.

Well, everybody has an opinion. Thankfully I don't have to believe that opinion.

I have used Opera, Firefox and Netscape all extensively. I keep coming back to IE because it is the only browser that is 100% compatible with every website I visit. Most of the website that are created, are created for IE, and Firefox (or others) choke when trying to decode some of them. Since most of those sites are created for IE, most of the spyware and viruses are created for IE also. If you have a brain, it's easy to avoid the tricks those slimeballs use to infect your computer. But by your logic, I guess I should go out and get myself some viruses and spyware since I deserve it. And this is all just my opinion so don't take offense.

it is a lame web developer that uses IE-specific code. ActiveX is evil. So is asp.

Look, I'm sure that my PC box is already infected w/ more viruses that a TJ hooker, as the old saying goes, but it's just the idea of someone registering on a web forum only to install a pox on people that sucks the bag, IMO.

I have the worst version of Windows, (M.E.), and no anti-virus software + IE and my computer still works fine for what I use it for, which is email and reading what you wankers have to say.

Microsoft ANYTHING sucks and is 5 years behind the "best" stuff that's available out there. It typically takes them about that long to find, reverse-engineer, and either steal the "good" products or buy out the individuals / companies producing them. Linux is the way to go - ditto on Firefox. MS has painted themselves into a corner with their "closed source" code - if you run Windows or any other closed-source based MS product, you're at their mercy when a problem / security issue comes up, which usually makes to program in question even more bloated and use memory even LESS efficiently, and possibly opens up one or two NEW security holes. With open source, the best minds in the industry and the people that really understand this stuff have an incentive (as enthusiasts) to identify the problem and directly modify the source as necessary to close any holes. AND it's free. You tell me which one's better.

Stick it to the man - run Linux.

First of all, I registered for these forums to learn more about BMW's, and simply posted this story because I found it funny.

Second, there is absolutely no spyware on that site, and I am going to email your slanderous remarks to the greenrabbit admins, I'm sure they could take action for your damaging false remarks.

Man the Feds are really cracking down on these scumbags and made them personally responsible for the fines. 2 months ago they busted 2 big operators dolling out this crap. Seems like it is the Hot money maker of the moment. I hope they all burn

I agree, people who install spyware should be punished severely, BUT there is a HUGE difference between popup ads and spyware.

Just as you can't print that xxx restaurant serves food with bugs, it's also illegal to slander other websites with such accusations.

Um, last I checked, the Boxster is a Porsche, not a BMW. What gives?
