Rock fans I need your help

My son is trying to get into a battle of the bands contest in the nearest city from our town. It would be good exposure to an otherwise dull music scene where we live. The problem is somehow the voting to get into the top 5 is being manipulated. Such as a band that on this last day of voting got 500 votes in 1 hour. We live in a sparsely populated area of the state and there is no way this could happen without some computer BS. Anyway they have hit up all their friends relatives etc. They are out of options. I know there are some real music guys here. If you would be so kind as to check out the site, listen to them, or if you don't want to listen just vote for them. The voting ends in a couple of hours. His bands name is GenOh!

They write all their music and are way more original than the average teen band IMHO of course. And they are going to add a bassist as soon as this gig is over.

I know this may sound lame but help he lives for this stuff. And hey, he came home from the hospital in a 930 that ought to count for something. http://www.getout.amarillo.com/battleofthebands/

As long as they don't mind a middle age balding guy... ha ha...

He has my vote... come on pelicanheads!

Is it just me or is the pelican site F***ed up today?

Their ex drummer was a turd. Wouldn't show up for practices etc. I am remined of the old joke how do find a drummer? Order a pizza and nab the delivery dude. Anyway the old bassist is now the drummer and they have tried out a couple of bass players but they think since The White Stripes, and The Black Keys do without bass they can. My son's effects pedal is stereo so he runs one side clean with the amp bass turned all the way up. The other side goes through effects. It sounds alright. That video's sound was coming out of the camera mic. And the video is grainy because it was completely dark in that venue that night. I'm surprised it came out that well. And thanks for the votes. As one of the guys from Wayne's world said. Rock on Dudes.

Sounds good to me; kind of a modern sounding Stooges/Bauhaus blend. Tell him not to get too worked up about a battle of the bands gig; the stuff he's doing (especially at his age) is far more sophisticated and varied than the average music fan will be looking for. (That's a complement, BTW )

He's got a future in it if he keeps developing. And I agree, a bass player would help fill things out a bit.

Good luck,
Jim

Somehow someone has figured out something I haven't you shouldn't be able to get 500 votes in 1 hr like one band did today unless they were manipulating they system somehow. Anyway thanks for the help

All I do is buy equipment and listen to them. I quit giving advice a couple of years ago. I did have to buy a db meter to prove to them they were going to damage their hearing like I did at their age. I know this is a car forum but I'll ask a guitar question for you. Do you know what G.A.S is?

Chalk up one more vote.

500 votes? How'd they do that?

In Internet Explorer, go to Tools | Internet Options and Delete Cookies.

Close IE, Open IE and vote again. Repeat as necessary.

That's it. It is evil. There are never enough guitars, amps, pedals, it's like a drug. Almost as bas as Porsche obsession. You hope the wife doesn't notice when there is another guitar lurking in the shadows.

She noticed. I have been doing a fair bit of re-stringing/setup work for a friend who owns even more guitars than me in an attempt to sort of mask which one belongs to who.

She only just figured out that the SG belongs to me.....

You'd have to log off your ISP and hope another IP address is assigned when you log back in. That's if you don't have a static address.

Yeah, I've only got 4. A sweet old Yamaha FG580 I picked up from an old guy (yes, older than me) and got back into shape, a Framus 12 string I got new in 72, a Strat copy which doesn't get used much and an old piece I try to teach myself slide on,(open D) Most of what I do is as old as the guitars or older. Seems those are the only tunes they know.
Gen Oh was leading by .1% after I placed my vote. Their total was 15.3%. Rock me dude!

What RickM said.

Although, suddenly GenOh is in first place!!! Funny how that works.

They still could analyze the results later and throw out duplicate votes from the same IP, but then the others would probably lose votes too.
