Ann Coulter - too funny!

just watched an interview (CBC - The Fifth Estate) with A C - She was arguing that Canada should be in Iraq with the coalition. Her line of reasoning? Because Canada entered the conflict in Vietnam!!! She remained adamant in spite of being informed otherwise. Comedy at it's finest. I guess history was not one of her strong points.
Mr Bill O'Reilly was as well showcased - this man is a truly pathetic human being - regardless of political persuasion.

A C absolutely refused to believe the veteran Canadian newscaster, saying that she would check the "facts" and get back to him.

I swear you could have snared the commentators eyes with a half inch rope!

Apparently Bill is not too happy (like that's a surprise):

So, KKKanida's harboring of Draftees during the Vietnam war, and the most recent harboring of Enlisted men who don't want to fulfill their obligations somehow puts them on our side in this war? I'd say that puts them clearly on the side of the terrorists, and I would rather they sit their pansy asses out of anything we're involved in. The only reason they are allowed to talk so big is because they know that we wouldn't let their country to get invaded or taken over.

My high-beam indicator is brighter than Coulter..

O' Reilly told 3 bald-faced lies in 10 seconds on his program and he didn't bat an eye - a real professional. The sad part is that millions believe every word that comes out of his mouth.

CBC is a little left but mostly centrist(socialist), it's just that Murdoch's gang is so far right everyone else looks like a communist.

Thanks for the recognition araine901
Many Canadians volunteered to serve in the US ARMY in Vietnam.
I believe the present policy is that recruits from other (mostly poorer) countries are rewarded with a fast track US citizenship ....if they survive the war(s).

If Canada were to particpate, how would it get there? Hitch?

They've got some of the best-trained snipers in the world, as demonstrated in Afghanistan, but as a force, Canada, like Europe, is impotent.

Canadians did, however, serve in the Vietnam War, many with distinction .

According to Victor Levant, author of Quiet Complicity: Canadian Involvement in the Vietnam War:

"Canadian diplomats were involved in negotiations between Washington and Hanoi and successive Canadian governments, both Liberal and Conservative, maintained that Ottawa was an impartial and objective peacekeeper, an innocent and helpful bystander negotiating for peace and administering aid to victims of the war. However, Cabinet papers, confidential stenographic minutes of the truce commissions as well as top-secret American government cables revealed Canada to be a willing ally of US counterinsurgency efforts.

Canada's record on the truce commissions was a partisan one, rooted in the presumption of Hanoi's guilt and Saigon's innocence and designed to discredit North Vietnam while exonerating South Vietnam from its obligations to uphold the Geneva Agreements. Canadian delegates engaged in espionage for the US Central Intelligence Agency and aided the covert introduction of American arms and personnel into South Vietnam while they spotted for US bombers over North Vietnam. Canadian commissioners shielded the US chemical defoliant program from public inquiry, parlayed American threats of expanded war to Hanoi, and penned the reports legitimating both the rupture of the Geneva Agreements and the US air war over North Vietnam. Ottawa would later assert that these actions were necessary to counter-balance the activities of the Eastern bloc countries with whom they shared membership on the truce commissions.

Canadian aid during the war went only to S Vietnam, $29 million 1950-75, routed through the Colombo Plan and the Canadian Red Cross. Although humanitarian in appearance, Canadian assistance was an integral part of the Free World Assistance Program, co-ordinated by the US Department of State with the International Security Office of the Pentagon as the point of contact. In the field, Canadian capital assistance was regulated by the US-RVN Health Defense Agreement and administered by the International Military Assistance Force Office in Saigon. On a number of occasions, Ottawa stopped the shipment of ecumenical medical relief to civilian victims of the war in North Vietnam."

Have any of you guys been to the North Wall?

I have to take at face value creaturecat's characterization of Coulter's statement that she literally said Canada "entered the conflict in Vietnam." Whether she said that or not, Canada and Canadians were active, effective allies to the United States, right up to the cusp of committing their own troops under their own flag. They'd chosen a side in a conflict against totalitarianism and tyrrany. Well, they'd chosen our side; they seem to have chosen the other side this time.

Oh yeah, Slacker. Our troops in Afghanistan are shooting at US Armed Forces.

Coulter is an idiot, but a useful one.

WTF, Tony? Take a Reading Comp. Class. Or Two. While a small, special forces commitment has been made, by and large Canada is militarily impotent and has not evinced public (let alone military or diplomatic) support for the liberation or democratization of Iraq, or the efforts against Islamofascism.

And up until a year or so ago, fundraising for terrorist groups such as the Tamil Tigers was fully legal, and Liberal Party cabinet ministers attended their fundraisers. Whose side is the Canadian government on in this one?

Canadian snipers in Afghanistan have been expertly picking off Taliban shytbags; including a world-record kill. I thank them wholeheartedly for their service; but their actions are not penance for their government -- like the "I support the troops but not the government" mantra your ilk are so fond of.

Do you have any idea of the etymology of the phrase "useful idiot"? To use that phrase to describe one of the most conservative, anti-collectivist writers of modern times deserves a plinth in the malapropism Hall of Fame.

I saw a canadian ship on a RIMPAC at Pearl Harbor once. It was a cute little ship. Maybe they can use it to trasnport thier troops.

Quite frankly, I have found Canadians to be among the most courageous. They simply do not take **** from anyone. They have historically been the first to lock arms with those who would protect the principles we hold dear. In my humble view, they are the perfect neighbor. But then, I do not have the firm grip on historical backdrop that Ms. Coulter does, nor do I have her brilliant mind or her balanced brand of non-partisan analysis.

Like most women, I would find her nonsensical babbling more tolerable if she wasn't such an ugly biatch.
