Can close up vision be improved?
I have had to use reading glasses for a few years, what a pain in the ass having glasses in every room of the house and my office. However, every now and then I find that my close up vision will improve, sometimes for a few minutes and sometimes for a few hours. I know the eye becomes less elastic as you age and this is what causes the need for reading glasses. Have any of you had success with vitamins or other foods, etc. that has actually improved your close up vision? Also, why am I able to see close up every now and then?

Kurt,
I've been wondering the same thing. Maybe we're looking for the holy grail...

Kurt,
No answer here, just the same question. Just today I was reading a page of text without my reading glasses with good clairity as well. Most days that would be futile. My sight started to go about 2 years ago and I contribute it to age (46). My younger brother had eyeglasses when he was young, and he did sight practices and now he does not wear them. I'll have to ask him what the exercises were and post back. Tim

Presbyopia (old fart reading glasses syndrome) is an inevitability for most of us. It starts around age 40.
To focus on fine print, the small muscles in the eye pull hard and actually bend the lens, allowing good focus. As we age, the lens becomes stiff and won't flex as easily. You can trick the eye by reading in bright light or outdoors. This will constrict the pupil and focus the incoming light more precisely. As for a cure, you are probably S.O.L. There are those that recomment "ocular exercises", but there are no good documented results. Vitamins and diet won't change a thing. I'm typing this without my reading glasses so I have no idea if there are any typo's!
