To arch neo-cons such as myself (and perhaps Noah, if he'll accept that Scarlet Letter) a story about someone potentially losing state-provided benefits, especially someone not a senior citizen, is not going to be "tragic" in any sense.

So it really boils down to -- is she sufficiently comely that I'll care? Shallow? Sure, but it's the only aspect of this story that could possibly interest me.
