Challenge Nonsense

OK, I think we got a little off my original thread of ‘Nonsense the at the Learned Believed’. That’s OK - kinda fun reading the rants and points.

Here is a chance to show yo chops! I have a challenge for ya‘ll - for those with the nut bag that is!
I have written two statements (A & B), one of which is true and meaningful the other is nonsense and meaningless. Which one is which! Can you prove your point? Have fun lads: May the games begin…

A) No other relative terms seem to serve, for they name relations that may hold between persons and another kind of thing, or between things that are not persons at all. Although spatial relations may hold between persons, they may hold between almost any two things; so they cannot distinctively characterize persons.

B) The experience of rationalization should teach us not to underestimate the ability of totalitarian or authoritarian regimes in which expertise is the difference in quality and can be brought about through many lengths. By thinking that a quasi-euphoric cultural and creative consciousness lives in an actively polygot world, the world becomes morphed into, once again, irreversibility in the sense that only the accustomed beliefs depend on little if any state of being.

This is gonna be tricky! Don't let my spelling errors influence your choice. What you may think is nonsense may not be, or is it?

B reads better, but is obviously nonsense. A is simply poorly written, and as such, appears to be nonsense, but probably isn't. I wouldn't say that A's point is worth the words used to make it, but I don't think it quite qualifies for "nonsense." Further, the fact that I have an opinion on this one means I need another beer.

Poppa is great! I first read him in forth grade (old man of the Sea) and recently read him again (all Quite...) - the man is timeless and ageless. No pretentiousness or pretending there.

Your search - quasi-euphoric cultural and creative consciousness - did not match any documents.

Suggestions:
- Make sure all words are spelled correctly.
- Try different keywords.
- Try more general keywords.
- Try fewer keywords.
Also, you can try Google Answers for expert help with your search.

Thanks for taking time to understand the origin of the above quotes - you will be hard pressed to find either one. It is more of an exercise in understanding how obfuscation can and does occur. And you are right, my speling sucks!
Now, which statement do you beleive to be accurate and which is hogwash?

Both are meaningless without extreme scrutiny. Therefore both are worthless Anyone who spoke to me in such a way would be beaten within an inch of his life

"A" is the more intriguing to me, but both are not sufficiently in context for me to follow. I confessed, on the original thread, to wanting to be a professor and even to holding a Philosophy degree. Again, "A" is the more intriguing because it looks like an excerpt from an ontological discussion. One of those truly conceptual discussions that almost punish you for your knowledge of actual stuff. Concepts like space and time, are known to us only as relational concepts, and we do not have much understanding of them apart from their relational definitions.

Then again, some thinkers have even been able to collide those concepts with the notion that all knowledge must be 'a priori,' which of course, we have heard many times. Kant did the most wonderful job of this collision, by the way. In my humble view.

But yeah, Mike is illustrating a real thing. The opportunity to string multi-syllable words together to make nonsense that no one will admit to not understanding.

But I also have given some thought to an experience that may have impacted your view of college professors, Mike. The notion that several of them ganged up on you. It's interesting that several professors would just coincidentally, or in a deliberate and coordinated way, gang up on a student. Were you doing a good job as a student. That is, were you in listening mode? Or were you in a mood to deliver, rather than receive, an education?

Not sure which Mike you are reffering to, but I had nothing but very positive experiences in college! 164 credit hours in 4 years, national honors with a BS in Chem and a BA in philo. I would have stayed for another tour if I didn't get some froshmen pregnant!

It wasn't you, Mike. And I always hope folks don't take my remarks personally. But I do intend for my remarks to be thought-provoking. I guess they're thinking still.........
