I'm just funnin with ya. That's the problem with the internet-hard to convey the emotion behind the words. I'm just checking in between tasks at work, and haven't really had time to attach emotion to this thread. I honestly have no animosity or ill will towards anyone on this board, let alone this thread. I enjoy friendly debate-that's it.

I congratulate dhoward on kicking the habit-keep it up! I also sincerely hope that targa911s's good health continues despite the abuse he puts his body through.

Sorry, I am the one who started it. That bozo was in his daughter house, celebrating his own wife birthday. The funny part was that the kids were wearing their shirts up to their noses when they were close to him and everybody was laughing except him.

We just did a overseas trip and I had forgotten how bad it is there. Every forking resturant you went to was nothing but a cloud of cigarette smoke.

I used to be a smoker and still smoke on a cigar 2-3 times a year but cannot take this stuff anymore...

Just to show what a total hypocrite I really am-somehow cigars are different.

I used to enjoy a fine cigar now and again. I haven't in quite awhile, however. To me it's different because cigar smokers don't tend to light up one after another and "need" it like a cigarette smoker. When I did indulge (I couldn't even say "smoke"-pathetic) it was always outdoors. I enjoyed nothing more than a nice Cohiba or Montecristo while raking and burning leaves.

My kids, being more rational than I apparently, didn't differentiate between cigars and cigarettes. To them I was a "smoker". Hence the accumulation of dust on my humidors. Sometimes we have to give up things we enjoy to set a good example. Just my opinion.

In the town where I lived in central Wisconsin it was like "festival!" to burn leaves. Believe me-I was far from the only one. Sometimes the atmosphere was so thick with smoke that you'de swear we were down wind from a huge forest fire. Pilots flying overhead probably thought the entire town was on fire some nights. Ahhh, the good ole days. And yes-on those days we were sucking down smoke like being at a 12 step club.

The best part was coaxing the leaves to burn with gasoline! I lived on a large corner lot. I would rake everything to the curb line going around the house. Then I would take a jug of gasoline-maybe a gallon, and dribble it on the leaves for the entire perimeter. After letting it soak in a bit, I would light a bag with a rock in it and toss it at the leaf pile. Needless to say, it's not so much the liquid as the vapor. The entire pile, which ran about 300 feet total, would basically explode,sending unburned leaves everywhere. My wife (shaking her head) and kids would be standing in the house watching from a safe distance. They claim the fireball reached the 100 year old maples (over ten feet up)from whence the leaves came. Would have been a shame to light those babies on fire. Needless to say, after one or two of those pyrotectic displays, the wife put the ky-bosh on the gas thing. No friggin tolerance.

I had a brother-in-law and his wife come to my house to visit my wife (both my wife and I don't smoke). I have two young children. They both chain smoked in our den stinking up the entire house. I couldn't believe the gall and the balls... I almost threw them out, but my wife convinced me they wouldn't stay long and they then left soon after.

Another time, a different brother in law stopped by at 2 am one night after too many drinks and chain smoked away in our den until he passed out on the floor. I almost called the cops after being awakened by the smell of cigarette smoke, but again, he stopped smoking before I tossed him.

Another brother in law set a beer on my 911 one time. THAT pissed me off...

Who needs enemies when you have in laws...

Didn't really want to get into this fray but here goes.
The ciggy smokers wouldn't be taking that 10-15 minute smoke break IF the workplace didn't require them to smoke outdoors. They would have kept right on working and smoking.
The other thing that gets me is that most people against smoking state that cigaretts smell, but the smell of burning rotting flesh is wonderful (grilled steak) Go figure.
