GT4 help

OK, feel like an idiot here... But, I got GT4 a few days ago, and been playing and having fun...

But, I'm not really making any "real" money here and don't really know what direction to take or if I'm missing something...

Could someone please give me pointers on how to get started?

Do I just keep running the beginner courses over and over until I have money for a real car??

If you want lots 'o cash do this....

Go to "Special condition races" I think it's on the far left middle of the "map". You may need a little more license than you have now and if so simply get it by comlteig the tests for it first in "license center"

Anyway, the second race in the special condition races is "capri". You only have to beat the one car for the two races and when you do you get a Toyota Rally car that you can sell for $260,000!!!! And............you can win it over and over There ya go, enjoy/

I use the "slow" approach in the way that maximizes a car's use. If you have a used Skyline or something, give it some power and tires and use it in every race that you can. That means enter it in the Japanese races, in the beginner races, in Professional races, 4WD races etc etc. That way you don't end up buying a new car for each race. W/ a Miata you can use it in Spyder/Roadster races, One Make (Miata) races, as well as Front Engine RWD races... etc.

Most of the time, the car you get as a prize you will need later on too. It may not be ideal, but it beats spending more $$.

Selling the big $$ prize cars is fun too. Quick way to make cash, just make sure you have a capable car to win.

Here's how I did it.

pick up a cheap FR sports car (I used the 270R I won) then upgrade it to ~300 HP and a new suspension (I used the cheapest one since all I really play with is camber) THen win the jap. championchip and you should pick up a 350z racing spec worth ~ 250K

Thanks guys. I needed to make sure there wasn't a set path to take for success. Looks like you can just skip around and do what's interesting...

What's a good car to buy for winning this race?

it's a paved road, so any racecar should do... maybe a narrow car can make it easier, some roads are tight

Just get the best tires allowed, it makes all the difference! I use the Mitsubishi 3000 concept I won in the Japanese races and it's super easy. Granted I have the Mits strumfed-out pretty good 800HP

Quick question: Where do I go to upgrade my tires and engine? Is is the Tuner Village area? Or is there another place for stuff like tires & basic suspension?

you do most of that in the manufacturer's section, where you buy new cars. There will be an option for the factory tuning. (first or second from the right)

if it's a Japanese car, you can do it in the Tuner Village or go to the Japan section and straight to the dealer. Most of the brands have their own in-house performance shops.

Hint: same price, same pwr gain etc for all the items at each tuner etc. Just the satisfaction for ricers of getting parts from different shops. However, if you go for the complete, fully built car, each tuner's car will be very different in handling/behavior.
