i suppose you could put a faux-sidewall over the "tire" openings to give it a more traditional look.

How do the weights compare to similarly sized air-filled tires and standard wheels? Is there any traction advantage? I don't really care how ugly it is, if it's fast.

Very interesting technology. But for what application would these tires be used?

I suspect that the flexible spokes would prevent the tire/wheel from being a track wheel due to sloppier handling.

And I think the tire/wheel wouldn't be very effective in the snow.

As others have alluded, I suspect they will find a place with the 'Bling Bling' crowd.

For me, air is still cheaper than flexible spokes.

I think that "normal" people would cover over the sides to keep grit or snow or whatever from getting in. I bet that would really screw with your wheel balancing.

Seems like these tires/wheels would suck without sidewalls. Stick a stone, some ice or snow inside one of the tires.

I'm surprised that the "spoke" design isn't more of a spiral . . .. hard braking (or accel) would wind those up, a bit.

Just think of the rain-tire possiblities . . . talk about an "opened tread" design potential.
