WWDC2005: Anyone here going?

Talkin' about Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference in San Fran June 6-10 (http://developer.apple.com/wwdc/).

My employer is sending me, and i'm totally psyched! Never been to Cali before, so I'm a little nervous... i hear that place is crawling with liberals.

No, we usually walk, run, ride our bikes, or drive Porsches.

It will be an eye opener for you. I'm sure there are guys here you can hook up with to see it all.

Any news on a G5 Powerbook? I'm looking for a Powerbook that can adequately run Virtual PC. I have heard the G4 Powerbooks don't really cut it, and that I'm better off waiting for the G5s.

Any ideas?

vpc is what it is. even on a g5 it isn't stellar. don't hold your breath for the g5 books though. they just speed bumped the g4s, and there are still cooling problems with the g5 from what I hear.

The only problem is trying to run windows on a Mac. It'd be like taking a 911 and putting a pinto engine in it. Yeah, it'll stumble along, but geeeeze, why?!

Why not? Certain programs I use run only on Windows. Accounting programs, inventory programs, etc. For a Mac user, you're certainly close-minded.

There are alternatives to everything, and if you are using specialized programs, I'd really try to convice the developers to go to a language that can be used on all platforms. Of course, I'm an open-minded Java programmer who thinks that one shouldn't be chained to one system because of lazy programming

Are you calling me lazy? Ahhh, jeez, I don't want to waste my 7,000th post on a computer/program/os argument - I just don't want to afford a new Powerbook right now.

Yeah, I used to hate Mac Zealots back in the day. Then I became one... so I understand

Sortof like how liberals become conservatives when they grow up, move out of the parents' basement, take a shower, and get jobs.

BT, I recommend you wear all your "W Rules" buttons, hats and shirts. you will go over huge out here.

actually you prolly wont need anything like that, we can smell midwest plain state, backward backwood hillbilly, slack jawed jokers, and red state W apologist as soon as they hit town. i assume you will be coming in on horse and carriage? or will it be on one them metal flyin' machines?

you might even see one of them cement ponds at your hotel. no critters or cowboy hats allowed in doors though. i bet they will dig your wranglers all tucked in your cowboy boots.. might just start a new trend (village people all over again?). you might have some trouble finding any opossum on the menu....

anyone else humming the deliverance song right now?

ever seen fog? thats the middle of winter in SF.

fogs thickest during the hotter months. for those thinking of visiting the coast here best is spring and fall. ever seen an old giants game on TV while they played at the stick? gloves and down jacket in july for a ballgame.
