The Schiavo Case - it's crystal clear now...

I couldn't understand what all the fuss was from the Bush administration, until I realized after being brain dead for fifteen years the current government felt quite sure, if she woke up, she'd vote Republican......

I have worked with the medically fragile, and my feelings are mixed on this issue. I wouldn't want to be kept alive, however I have worked with people who have and they still have a quality of life. I feel really sorry for Terri's parents, because I would be hurt to if it was my child laying there. I would also hope that My family would do anything to make sure that my wishes are upheld. Please show a little sympathy for Terri's parents, they are the ones having the hardest time right now.

i found it kinda strange that all these repubs that squak about the higher power of marriage and how gays don't fit the criteria, yet they are defending the family of the woman saying that the husband has no right to make that kinda call. WTF? just the new GOP flavor of the month when it comes to ethics and their moving target on what is ethics of the higher god knowing party. you guys remember W speaks with god.

you know jerry's rolling over in his grave knowing a republican is flying his band's symbol in these times. you can't be a deadhead and a republican at the same time, it's impossible. you are posing for one or the other. i suspect the dead is your pose, ive seen plenty of dead posers in my years in the bay area, and who would pretend to be a republican? i mean really?.

What??

I guess "can't be a Republican" is in the Deadhead manual.

And what would a deadhead poser be?
I guess one just can't enjoy the music, you have to be "with" the entire scene--or heaven forbid a rabid deadhead will confront you, tell you, you are a "poser", "just don't get it", "I have tapes of every show, blah, blah, blah", and then beg you for a free beer, because he doesn't have any money, or job, because he is "anti-establishment".

Jeez, I don't even know how to respond to that one K911sc. Hopefully I do get the sarcasm, or at least I hope I get the sarcasm is your reply.

I enjoy the music and have for the past 17 years (I am only 31, so cut me a break), and understand what the artists Political views were (are for the remaining members). I listed to what they had to say for years and then again when they were here at Red Rocks last summer, and respect them for their opionins. Just like Tim Robbins and his whatever you want to call it Susan Srandan, the Boss, and any other artist, whether they be musican, actor, painter, etc.

With that being said, they are artists, and entitled to their views and beliefs, I just don't happen to agree with them, nor do I expect them to agree with mine.

I don't feel the term "poser" is correct or even nice. I suppose, if like Eric states, one does not totally immerse themselves in whatever scene they are into, it would be easy to call them a poser. If that is your belief, and it makes you feel better about yourself so be it.

Thom, Superman and many other members here have taken a beating, and given one back with regards to various Political issues. My reply to Thom was tongue in cheek, and would like to think that if the outcome had been different, I would have said the same type of thing to Bryan or one of the Conservatives on the board (assuming there were as many anti-Kerry type posts).

I'll be in San Jose next week as it seems I have been coming there frequently for work, so if you want to grab a beer and quiz me, to make yourself feel better, or take me out of your "poser" category, so be it. I would ofcourse rather talk about air cooled cars and bikes...

you are right, poser was a bad choice of words. i am sorry for that. it was kinda tongue in cheek, i did not expect to find such i nerve there. and really, i feel pretty good about myself, almost to a fault some who know me might say.

i pose on a stool most every friday at murphy's law in sunnyvale from about 5 till around 8, or the street lights come on... bill, if you're to be in the area i would be honored to get you drink if you cared to join me. a few other pelicans occasionally will darken the place's doorstep, we've/I have welcomed out of town pelicans before.. PM me as to when you will be in town, and if interested a drink is in order. i assume a "drink" did mean a beverage, not a duel of some sort?

i think they even have touch of gray on the juke box; )

eric, i know not of this manual you speak of? if i bum a beer off ya am i in?

toby

If you look at all the facts of this case, the main issue is there is nothing in writting that says she would want to die. What if the husband is making this up? Don't people find it strange that she didn't mention this wish to anyone else in her family...ever??? She's not on life support and is being starved to death. This to me is simply inhumane.

Don't turn this into a republican / democrat issue, although it already has. Bottom line, a human being will be dead soon and she was simply starved to death because her husband said she wouldn't want to live this way. To me that is scary. Do yourself a favor and get a living will or a doable power of attorney. If we learn anything from this case it should be not to put or families through this. It simply isn't necessary if we do the appropriate thing and get a living will.

Take some time and read the facts on the case. The court decided the feeding tube should be removed based on the evidence presented. Not because the husband said so. Read this...

I can't belive that people out there would argue or even fight to keep this woman alive. It's just plain crazy. She's been dead for ten+ years. Get over it. I would be so pissed it I was Terri and woke up after 10 years of being stuck in that state. I would kick everyone's ass that let me live in that condidtion.
