Recycling APC dead batteries, Where?

I'm acculumlating dead back up batteries because I am doing as they ask and not throwing them away. Any places that take lead-acid batteries for recycling that anyone knows of?

I thought APC give some credit for them..
they gave me money for my old UPSs last year.
(went from 2 x 2.5KVa to 1 10KVa)

My city takes old batteries for recycling, you might want to call your local municipal services to check...

I have 4 or 5 piled up at my office w/ nowhere to go. Not giant datacenter stuff, but one is "midsized" and 150lbs...

Our nearest landfill has 'hazmat' collection days once or twice a year, but I doubt they recycle. So actually I could use any tips as well...

Yes, APC has a trade-in program. Credit for you old UPS towards a new one. You return the old one in the box your new UPS came in. Shipping the old one paid by APC.

Also, I know Interstate batteries will be happy to take them off your hands (at leat around here). If you call a rep they may pick up.

Lowe's usually has a battery recycling drop-off bin (for power tool batteries and other) at or near the front door. Radio Shacks will usually take them for recycling as well.
