A/V experts: Why can't I see CC text?
I bought a copy of Phantom Menace (yeah, I'm a Star Wars geek - what can I say?) to refresh my memory before Sith comes out.
During Phantom Menace there should be text popping up to translate some of the alien language. Well... that doesn't happen on my 42" Mitsubishi w/JVC DVD player. It works fine on my old TV and DVD player, but not on the big one. I tried every combination of CC setting on both TV and DVD player and it never worked. I also tried viewing it in the different screen formats (ie narrow view) , but still no luck. What's going on? I put A New Hope in and the translation for Jabba worked as it should. I immediately put Phantom Menace in and nothing.

I'm going to guess that the DVD player setup isn't correct. Most of the time a DVD player defaults to poor choices out of the box and has to be configured for your needs.
I never understood why this is either. EDIT: I would also guess that this problem could be a sub-title issue and not closed-captioning. Last edited by TerryH; 04-01-2005 at 04:55 PM.. |
