My new daily driver
Check out my new kiddie hauler/daily driver....becoming a father for the third time around has finally impacted my automotive choice...Porsche is still in the garage but I'm afraid this is going to take over the lionshare of day-to-day driving responsibilities....
2001 Audi A6 Avant, 50,000 miles, Audi certified, 2 year bumper to bumper warrantee. Nicely loaded at a great price! Replaced my very aged Volvo 850 with many miles.... I've bounced a bunch of ideas off the group here, so thanks for the advice. Adam ![]()

Staying in the Porsche family with an Audi, nice work. I have driven in the S6 version and absolutely a fun/sweet car.

The lowly 2.8 but buying a pre-owned and considering what gas is at these days (even in the cheapest state in the union), I'll take a little less power and better reliability over the turbo (my Pops has the 2.7T and it does rock) but this suits me fine...Can't give the 911 too much competition or she'll get jealous....
Love the ride, comfortable but firm, tons and tons of space, my daughter got in this morning and exclaimed, "ooo daddy, its so leathery..."

Nice purchase!
It was smart staying away from the 2.7T. The 2.8 is much more reliable, and plenty for the duty it will serve. Audis are great cars to 'do everything' and then have fun when you want it to. |

At $5000 per turbo replacement it was enough to keep me normally aspirated for my daily driver!!!

Great post. We are going to be buying an Audi wagon soon. Did the warranty come standard or did you purchase it?
Any idea on the MPG? I think it should be around 25 highway. Manual or Tiptronic? Thanks for the help,

Hey there-
If you buy an audi certified car, they should give you the 2 year or 50K warrantee, plus part of the certification process revealed the need for new pads and rotors, so my car came with all new brakes! MPG is around 25 highway. These cars are all tiptronic.... Good luck. Adam

Great. Thanks.
Hey , my SC is Pacific Blue and we want a silver or gray Audi. Weird, man. Karma? We only have 1 child and a dog so an A6 should be roomy enough for us. Plus, it gives Daddy another toy to mess with. WOOHOO!

Just got an A3 2.0 Turbo Quattro - had an A4 sedan like yours (but a 1.8) years ago and did 90k with NO problems!
Enjoy - its a quality car! ![]()

Hey Adam,
Nice ride. Do you mind disclosing cost? I need to get into another car in the fall, and have always liked the A6, especially with AWD. See you on the 1st!!! ciao,

They DO make manual transmission A6's ( even Avants ), not all are Tiptronic automatics.

...... and it still pays to shop around for a used car. The average Audi certification process costs $1500, which is passed on. Many dealers buy 'pre-certified' cars off-lease from VCI (Volkswagen Credit) and pay a steep premium for those units at auction because it gets them inventory faster.
Certified cars are not always the way to go. If you're the type that would pay an extra couple thousand on a good warranty, Certified can be great. It wouldn't be for me, I'd rather save the $$$ up front. You do have a choice. E |

Hey guys-
Shopped it around quite a bit, most of the ones that I came across, other then ebay were in the low 20s' for similar cars. Some non-audi dealers were giving a 12 month warrantee, some just a one month...the warrantee definitely costs the dealer some good $ but I'd rather buy from someone with some sort of certification and 2 year's protection...gotta enough maintenance costs with the 911! Jon, paid $18.9 from Bernardsville/Mendham Audi....nice guys over there, definitely price their cars below the rest of the market...they even totally reconditioned the rims before they gave it to me, no curb rash!!
