effen got bitten by a dog.

went to a neighbor's home to see her doberman puppies. only problem is that mommydog took a piece out of me. she actually bit me twice, once in the shoe, and when that didnt give me notice, she nailed me on my calf. both hits took a few seconds. it barely broke my skin, but having a dobey grab your calf is very sobering and painful. the lady felt horrible. i wanted to shoot the beatch. but she is worth alot of money. the puppies were cute as hell. that bite hurt. i dont like dobermans.

cliff.

I was bitten by a Labrador when I was 10 years old. It bit my in the corner of my mouth (think it was probably going for the neck). 12 stitches later...much more wary about ANY dog.

at least it wasn't a pitbull...you might not have a foot or calf left.

You went to see a dog that just had puppies and you are surprised that the dog bit you? I'm not. I don't want to imply that animals with litters are inherently predisposed to bite but the basic instinct to protect is a hard to control and you can't really blame the dog.

The foot bite was a warning that you should have paid attention to. The dog was just trying to get you away from its litter. If that dog was serious about wanting to hurt you you'd be in a lot worse shape.

Sucks that it happened to you. I hope you feel better.

I hope the dog has proof of a rabies vaccination. Check that out...NOW!

Well, I'd say the dogs owner should have known her dog better and had control of it. A child might have seriously been hurt.

I love dogs and have always had one. The more aggressive breeds I won't own for this very reason. It's not worth the liability.
I've been bit three times and your going to have a deep bruise.

Ask to see her current rabies certificate, (they need a vac. every 2 years), and that should be the end of it. FWIW, the chances of a domestic dog in the U.S. having rabies is close to nil in this day and age.

I'm assuming from this post that you don't know much about dogs, (nothing wrong w/ that), but the owner definitely should have known better. Any mother dog, (or cat/raccoon/monkey/etc..), is going to be naturally protective of the litter. Bringing a strange male, (I'm also assuming that she did not know you previously), into the lair was stupid. Showing puppies needs to be done w/ care, sometimes you need to separate the mother from the litter for a minute to do it. That bite was a pure protective move, she was scared of or threatened by you.

Bummer that it happened, though. I hope it does not sour you on dogs for good, they are wonderful creatures but still animals so they will occasionally act on instinct.

Your a freakin idiot for going to see a puppies with the mother there. You and the owner should know that the mom is going to protect her babies. I don't feel bad for at all.

puppies nip. natural thing. You have to teach them not to...

Try raising queensland heelers. THey have a genetic disposisiton to nip your ankle, as if you were a cow.

Go to the hospital and get checked out. Dogs lick their own rears, remember. Dogs are one of the most common ways to transfer e coli among other things.

Vash? Definitely seek medical attention...even a "nip" can be dangerous if it broke the skin.

The first half of this statement is almost incredibly asinine, the second half is true.

As for the dog getting sick from biting something, asinine again. Dogs are genetically 10-100 times tougher than humans, in terms of how much poison is required to kill one compared to a human of comparable weight.

You get a D+ for that post.

OK OK so they do have Bacteria....geeez ......just bite my head off why don't you.....ummm another sorry excuse for a pun...anyway....when I said I hope the doggie don't get sick...I was refering that Vash just wasn't being sensative to the situation he put himself into and I feel more sorry for the dog...as in would you put your head into that Lions mouth...ohhh forget it....

thanks krich, your sympathy is heartwarming.

i actually went thru a dialoge with the owner telling her that i was not that interested in seeing her puppies. i told her dobies make me nervous. her's are huge and there are three of em. she was all "nonsense!" told me about her dog's psych eval, and everything. so i didnt want to diss a neighbor, and tried to respect my elders. AGAINST my better judgement i went into her house. (besides she wanted to give me strawberries. i mowed her lawn) that is when i got nipped. i am bruised and my gfriend's doc cousin gave me the clean bill of health. i was more pissed yesterday. today, no problems.

now i have been bitten three times. no longterm mental damage done to date. still dont like dobies.

other than cliff getting bit this is a great thread, its got it all !!!

a gruppe hug and this is pelican in a microcasm.

man tells story, gives enough details to allow the repliers to fill in the blanks. seems cliff deserved to be bit if you listen to king of the richard's telling how our guy cliff carried a puppy from its mother in his mouth whilest growling and stealing fruit. tabs enterjects with some false wisdom, followed by tabs hater crushing his tale by checking the facts. dogs apparently licks their aces. pelican members know of this propencity for dogs to lash under their tail, and sharing it like it's news to us! however he left the "n" out of ecolin. somebody recommends the hospital, or at a minimum some sort of self medication. another does not read the original post, yet shares his vast knowledge in breeding sheep dogs. man returns to thread, foaming at the mouth, clears up lose ends, and files it in the search area. somebody else calls richard out for being the other thing a dog may lick if you watch close.

i love this place.
