New GT racing game

A new pc game GTR : FIA GT Racing is coming out may 3rd. Linky-link Looks pretty sweet. I read a recent review that said it's going to be a new benchmark for gt racing sims. Time to get the steering wheel hooked up to my pc.

In this day of photo-realistic simulations, accurate down to the color of brake rotors in the brake zone during night sequences, the graphics look mediocre. But then, the machine requirements aren't too strict either -- 1.2Ghz processor? 384MB RAM? Do you even _know_ anyone with a machine that slow anymore?

I wouldn't knock it down just cause the graphics aren't from HL2 . I think for a sim its much more important to have accurate physics modeling, collision detection, realistic AI, etc. I would say that graphics are low on the list for a racing sim.

Yes I do.

1.6 Ghz here.. and it had better last because all the money is going into the car.

Anyway, Ive been looking for the best driving games for the PC and appreciate any threads to help with the decision.

I wasn't really beating it down; I'm just reserving final judgement until it actually comes out. Heck, I still play NFS5, just because the engine is still the best I've found for the PC. This one looks like it has a couple of Porsches in the garage, which may be good. The ability to make detailed modifications to the car may help.

(shrug) Anyone want to do a detailed review in two weeks?

Dan

It is out, everywhere in the world except the US. It is from Simbin, the same guys who did the FIA GT mod for F1 2002.

Probably not what you are really looking for but NASCAR Racing 2003 from Papyrus is a very good sim. I believe there is a Le Mans mod for the game too. I have 02 so I havent tried it out.
