Go Get 'Em, Ted!
Ted Nugent had a lot to say at this year's NRA convention. I find it simply amazing that we have even reached the point where anyone has to say this, but we have. The right to self-defence is as fundemental as the right to breathe. Why are so many working so hard to take that away from us?

Its fundamental yet so many want to deny that fact. As Ted says, we've become (or some of us anyway) "Sheeple".

It is not self defense. But then the gun rights groups want to know what's wrong with assault guns, and if you think that assault guns are the item you need for self defense, we are already at an impasse.
And good ole' boy Ted is just talking vigilante nonsense here to stir up the crowd. |
Puuuhlease....Fundamental right to bear arms I completely agree with but assault rifles and machine guns gimme' a break....Somehow I think a standard "defend yourself" situation can be handled with a nice 357 or a 44....spraying a neighborhood with assault weapon fire is just irresponsible...
|
Whats wrong with owning Assualt weapons... just because they are black and mean looking your going to catagorize them as being evil...please...
If you really want to get at the causes of VIOLENCE in our society start with taking a look at yourself in the mirror...a gun like any tool can be used for good or for evil and it takes a human being to decide which it's going to be... |
The Gun issue is one that you either get or don't--no amount of back and forth on a message board is going to change anybody's opinion. So long as the NRA continues fighting, we(gun owners) are in good hands.
|
If you seriously wonder why you would EVER need an assault rifle, then you probably have no idea why the right was afforded us in the first place. Heck, you may believe it was to hunt Thumper and Bambi for all I know.
|
Please let me know with whatever "hard" statistical evidence you can muster, how the "assault weapons" ban passed by our government years ago cut down on (1) violent crime and (2) firearms deaths. Please show your work.
BTW, don't waste your time looking, even the most rabid gun control nuts (which I'm not saying any of you are) haven't been able to demonstrate the efficacy of this type of gun control. JP |
People who have bought into the Gun Control argument are idiots...the whole GC arguement is that people are basically irresponsible and that the government should regulate guns to keep people from hurting each other with them...Yet if you realize there are 260,000,000 guns in circulation among a population of 300,000,000 people you find that ONLY A MINUTE FRACTION of guns and people are involved in using guns irresponsibily, that in fact the HUGH MAJORITY of people take gun ownership seriously and are responsible in their use.
If one further looks at the demographics of gun misuse one finds that Minorities predominately Black and Hispanic are the greatest offenders in the use of guns...So in that light GC people are trying to abridge the rights of miniority groups, yet they lack the outright courage to state their case openly. |
See, already an impasse. No, I see no need for assault weapons for self defense. And your view of why we got the right is different than mine, it's not that I have no idea, it's that my idea is not the same as yours, or even whether the basis of any argument put forth back then is relevant today.
JP, you know any "strong" gun control, that is easily out manuevered has lost from the start. So it is fruitless to look for valid data in a corrupted data base. So no amount of flogging this issue does much at all. Off to something else. |
....or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble....
Should freedom of speech exclude the telephone, internet and video? Should we limit freedom of the press to moveable type?? Freedom of assembly? Did the founding fathers ever consider trains, planes and automobiles? |
And Ted does not use drugs.................maybe it would of calmed him down some.
http://pages.eidosnet.co.uk/johnnymoped/musicforthemasses/musicforthemassesrockstarsdumb/musicforthemasses_rockstarsdumb_nugentted.html TED NUGENT DOES THE DUMBEST THINGS: Teenage Ted enjoyed lying on the roof of his car, sticking his arms through the windows and driving. Sometimes, he slipped his car into neutral and danced on the hood while moving down the highway. Observed Ted, "No one would drive with me." Nugent was rock's answer to 'George Of The Jungle.' He liked to appear onstage in the 1970s wearing nothing but a loin cloth. Nugent denies the rumour that in 1978, he carved his autograph into a fan's arm with a bowie knife. Nugent affirms the rumour that he didn't like the food backstage at the Armadillo World Headquarters in Austin, Texas. To express his feelings about the cuisine, Nugent swung from a door jam and took a dump into a bowl of whipped cream. At the end of one Ted Nugent rehearsal, a visiting guitarist pulled out a machine gun and opened fire. Bullets ripped through Nugent's equipment cases and trashed a limousine parked outside. After surviving the gunfire, Nugent said, "I've gotta get some of those blanks for my .45s." |
The Founders of the country felt that guns in the hands of the people limit the power of the government...they ascribed to power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely...so in effect guns in the hands of the people keep governments honest...
I think one of the key things to remember when thinking about the founders intent is the fact that the British Army was marcing on Lexington and Concord to DISARM a local Militia that in their (The British) view was an illegal, adhoc group. |
A government should fear its citizens, citizens should never fear its government.
|
So you all keep assault rifles so that one day you can take down the government....hmmm sounds a bit familiar....do you all live in shacks in the wilderness screaming at federales while with barbed wire around your property....
like I said before gimme a break, a pistol, some rifles, a whole darn collection of guns have fun but assault rifles I just don't see a point to them and the risk.... |
Cmon, we could have the govt. hang the tag "assault vehicle" on any car that had a spoiler, shiny wheels, and could travel over 75mph and ban those too. Really, thats the definition of "assault rifle" in a nutshell.

How long ago were we in civil war again? Gimmie a break:rolleyes: |
I should add, if you anti- AR guys are only concerned with the stability and structure of our government during your (and maybe your children's lifetime) then sure we can ban all these weapons. I trust our government for at least another generation. That's like forever right?
|
Wow incredible. I guess we should watch how many war-mongering, oil thirsty Presidents and Congresses we elect, the ones that want to give us the right to keep ARs but take away our rights to chose, rights to die in a dignified fashion and any other "right" that doesn't match his or her (insert wonderful conservative leadership name here) religious ideals....
Hmmm maybe I should go buy that AK47 that I keep passing in the window.... |
