car cass
So i've got this Mitsu Starion. Parts were getting hard to come by and a few years ago I bought an insurance total with the intent of having a nice supply of donor parts.
Well the thing is up in the air with drivetrain, suspension and all manner of stuff removed. It'll never roll again. It's using up much needed garage space and I want to get the carcass out of there. Sawzall or torch? I know torch is easier and quicker but I'm a little leary of setting the garage on fire. Anyone ever carve up a car with a sawzall? Opinions welcome. Thanks Scott

Just get the longest bimetal blade you can find and start cutting. It will cut that car up quicker than you think.

I've actually done one of each, to be honest the Sawzall *might* have taken a tiny bit longer but is by far cleaner and safer. (and smells better)
You'll need to get a handful of the longer blades(12"?) for cutting thru frame rails and pillars, and some standard length for single layer sheet metal places. It really goes pretty quickly if you plan your cut right. A third option would be a gas-powered "street saw" with a metal cutting blade in it; lots of fun and really fast, but quite dirty. |

Maybe you can donate it to the local Firedept. Then they can practice with their Jaws of Life. Get a reciept and you have a deductible donation.

Save the dizzy...years ago, Cindy had a Mitshu product sold by Mopar. It was 6 years old at the time. I played HELL finding a dizzy for it. Nothing on the West coast, and after running up one hell of a phone bill (pre Internet days for me), I found a dizzy in New Jersey. One a dealer had on his shelf, had to pay $500 for it. Yep, save the dizzy. There has to be some poor fool out there looking for one. Me? Nevermore an "itchypussy" car...I could buy a dizzy that would work in my '72S tomorrow, if I wanted one...
