what can W's supporters say to pick me up?
now that the nasdq has fallen well below 2000 and the dow is hovering a mere 12 points above the 10K mark at close today whats W gunna do? my public employee's 401 equivalent has not moved any where since W was elected four+ years ago. oh it made a little last year (04) but all that did was make up for the losses of the previous year.
so BT, JP, ronin, and the other W apologist here that defend him like family, whats your and W's plan? are we looking to dick for answer's on this? does W even care? ![]()

You must be mistaken. The economy is white-hot under Dubya's sharp economic plan. Nevermind the data. Same with Iraq. Every patriot knows everything is going perfectly. It's only you traitors that dare to suggest otherwise.

I was always under the impression that if one worked hard (as opposed to posting to OT), one would meet with eventual success.

I wasn't aware that W was personally involved in setting the Dow and NASDAQ indices. Maybe we should start a letter writing campaign to the White House demanding Dow 15,000?

I don't think there's anything any president can do to raise or lower the stock market. Even if they could, it would take a long time for their policies to have any effect. When the economy is good, they take credit for it and when the economy is bad, they blame someone else...
The war in Iraq is another matter...

Who would guess that this post came out of the Bay Area
![]() Presidents (Democrat and Republican) tend to have LONG-TERM peace and stability in mind with their actions, rather than the "hey the economy is bad right now" or "Iraq is in turmoil right now" mentality of many US citizens (mostly liberals). Democracy in Iraq is the first step to LONG-TERM middle east peace, thus stable oil prices, thus economic growth. It has already spread into Lebanon, and I have the feeling that Iran will be democratic in the next 5 years, hopefully without our help. Long term peace (at the expense of short-term turmoil) in the middle east is GWB's and Blair's goal, and it's clear by the re-election of GWB and most likely Blair that there are still a majority of reasonable people in our countires. FDR wanted to enter WWII long before US citizens came around (Pearl Harbor). Perhaps if we did, millions would have been saved from gas chambers. War and economic instability are terrible, but patience will see this pay off. Last edited by jkarolyi; 04-20-2005 at 04:05 PM.. |

Our business is up, only $1.4 billion last year. My bonus was excellent and my 401k raises every quarter. Do not invest in the stock market right now other than Dell and some other solid companies.
Go cry on some liberals shoulder, us Republicans are busy working our asses off to keep this country headed in the right direction! You need to grow a backbone instead of sniveling on a public forum. JoeA

you can't blame W for much because he's simply a mouthpiece for the system. a whipping boy, a scapegoat, but somebody's gotta do it. it takes the heat off the actual government. i do wish he could project a bit more intelligence to the rest of the world though, instead of that stupid smirk.

>>You are a fool if you actually believe this. DO you honestly believe we are ever going to win the hearts and minds of these people?
No, but we don't need to. Once they get a taste of true democracy and the economic benefits it will bring them, they won't need any convincing. Or are you indicating that Iraqis are subhuman dictator-lovers not deserving of democracy? That's the vibe I get from a lot of liberals. Oh, and I live in good ol' Southern California...not quite as elitest lefty as NorCal, but getting there. ![]() >>us Republicans are busy working our asses off to keep this country headed in the right direction! What are the economic benefits of a democracy?
China is kicking our asses economically, yet they're not a democracy.

other than the fact saddam was a war criminal among other things and needed to go, he did know how to keep those fools in line. this crap wasn't tolerated. remember, they're not like us, never will be, and don't want to be. life really has no value to them except to be able to die a martyr and get the virgins.

>>Grab 'em by the ba!!s...their "hearts and minds" will follow!
Isn't that a Nixon quote? Other than that Watergate thing, he's my hero. ![]() That's what Reagan and GB did to the Soviets in the 80s with the arms race, and waddya know, the walls came down. >What are the economic benefits of a democracy? What I meant by that was economic benefits resulting from good relations with western democracies. My bad. Last edited by jkarolyi; 04-20-2005 at 07:20 PM.. |
