What's the next big thing to invest in?

Having missed the real estate, Apple (ipod) and Google boom, my question to the smartest collaboration of folks I know is....

What's the next big thing?

Sirius at $8/share seems tempting, satelite radio is slowly catching on but are they too ripe for a takeover?

For the most part, I subscribe to Warren Buffet's philosophy on building wealth, but for once, I would like to hit a home run.

Cheers, from the desert....

The drug companies are a good bet for the short term...but thats not news...
There is NO ONE Thing thats gona make you money...it's called sector rotation...

Right now MOT at $15 a share is a good bet...take it to $18/19 and run or at least lighten the load....$3 a share is 20%....I think that it will make a higher high this time around...but oh well...

U also can play trading ranges MOT is $14.50 to $20.89...when it is in the lower part of the range buy and sell when it gets to the upper end of the range....and do it all over again when it goes down again...with fewer shares each time...U might do that once or twice in a year..

It really looks like the market is going to break out and head much higher....a base was built at 10,000 on the DOW...Greenspan made some positive comments, earnings are strong and it's up 200 points in a day...

Can you imagine the power Greenspan has....one word from him and 100's of BILLIONS are made or lost in a day...

If I had to vote on the most powerfull man in the world today, it would be a toss up between GW and Greenspan....

An analyst on CNBC yesterday said you'll triple your money in 2-3 years with PLLL, WRES, and MMR. All are small cap energy related companies.

What was interesting was watching the prices jump as he was talking about them. I guess the day traders are still doing their thing.

N R G stocks.
Try Ford or GM if you want to buy Co's that are beaten to a pulp.

Tabs, you've been flogging MOT for quite a while. I'll guess you bought heavy in the late 90's and never unloaded it...

Greenspan is almost 80. What will be the markets' reaction to his passing? Who will take his place?

He is leaving at the end of this term, don't recall when that is but its not that far off. Hopefully Bush will appoint a heavyweight, not a lightweight like he's chosen for his other economic-related appointments (Snow at Treasury, etc). Bernanke is the bet right now.

Ohhh quiet to the contrary .....Mother loaded the truck up at $8.00 to $10.00 a share in late 2003... and unloaded the truck at $20.00 a share....and bought a smaller amount again when it went back down to $15 and rode it to about $18.00 and sold ..and this is the 3rd trip to the well....

Someone asked a question and I gave a good answer as to where you can make a BUCK...no pie in the sky BS from me here....

Years and years ago, before I was even born, a 2nd cousin mentioned at a family reunion that was starting a business selling bottled water. Everyone made fun of him...

I don't think Sirius radio is a good investment at this point - they are still haven't shown a decent profit!

Right now, they are selling at $5.146/share. It has hovered between $4 and $8 a share for the past 6 months. It seems to go up when they make an annoucement (See: Howard Stern to join Sirius annoucement in December) and other than that, it stays pretty flat.

Now if XM buys out Sirius, that may cause the stock to move! But XM seems to be in better shape than Sirius, but I don't think it has the $$ to outright buy Sirius.

Just my ramblings,
-Z.

Water. No, seriously. Water companies or desalinization plants. In 20-30 years, we won't be fighting wars over religion anymore (OK, maybe that is a long shot). We will be fighting over clean water. Population growth will make water scarce sooner rather than later. The problems will begin in India, where the population is skyrocketing and there isn't enough water for their crops. We are already milking the Colorado river for all it's worth. And the Rio Grande is a touchy subject between the U.S. and Mexico.

Buy low sell high its real simple to make money that way, Barry bonds hits lots of homers but he strikes out even more. Only way to hit homers all the time is to have inside info. I have bought and sold Ford over the last 3 years and made some nice pocket change.
