More Bacon, Less Broccoli
For an interesting, contrarian view of healthy living:
http://www.agora-inc.com/reports/RHB/W6RHF503/ Meant to post this to OT. My apologies.

I'm glad that you brought this up rrpjr. It seems that information is coming out of all directions now. Is this really true though?
While on about the same topic, I have a question on Diet sodas that contain Aspartame. I have been drinking diet sodas (average of about 4 per day) for a few years. I have seen one webpage about Aspartame that has all of these cumulative health problems that you will get from man-made aspartame if you drink diet sodas for long enough. That had me scared and I have not had a diet soda now for 6 hours, or will I have another diet soda hopefully for a very long time. Then, I saw this other webpage where a professional said that aspartame will not do any harm. Which is really true? I have a feeling the "aspartame is bad" arguement is true, and I have stopped drinking diet coke for 6 hours. Now comes withdrawl.... Can someone back me up with the proper aspartame health facts in diet sodas? Sorry to get this a little off topic, but I am really confused right now. ![]()

Matt, have you tried Diet-Rite, or one of the other diet sodas that use Splenda for sweetening?
Splenda tastes better and it hasn't been proven to kill you. Yet. ![]() |

try eating bacon every day for a week, then try eating brocoli every day for a week. See which one makes you feel better.
always look for the hidden agenda behind these studies. |

How about:
> more bacon, more broccoli, more steak, more BBQ, more salad, more sushi, more wine > less pasta, less ice cream, less soda, less commercial packaged instant food that's full of corn sweetener |

Very interesting rrpjr. 30 years from now we will look back and laugh at what they told us in 2005. IF we last that long!

Are you fat enough to prevent injuries from falling? Numerous skinny people received broken bones from trips and falls. Obesity prevents these injuries by cushioning your bones and soft tissue.

I'm not much of a soda drinker but when I do indulge it's in spurts. Every few months I'll have one or two a day for 2-3 weeks then stop. I have noticed, and have been able to replicate, a side effect that I experience when drinking the stuff. My fingernails split, crack or otherwise become weak/brittle....and I keep my nails short. I pretty much use Splenda as much as possible but it is NOT made from sugar as their tag line insinuates. It happens to have a component which is common with sugar. Splenda is 100% synthetic.
