Help me pick a car!

I have come to the conclusion that the 330Ci ZHP is th car for me.

I have two options and wanted to get your thoughts.

2005 330Ci inbound to dealer - New will cost about 46K before taxes and title

330Ci Silver with Black Leather

ZHP - Performance Package
Auto Tranny
Heated Seats
Xennon Lights
BMW Assist

2005 330Ci at dealer - Used with 3K miles - Dealer is offering at 39K. Have offered 37.5.

330Ci Silver with Grey Leather

ZHP - Performance Package
Auto Tranny
Xennon Lights

Which car would you buy? I don't think I will have it for more then a year or two as I search for a 993 to use as a daily driver.

Your thoughts

I only have one...if a 993 is your goal, why not go for one now instead of suffering the depreciation of a new BMW? Have to admit, the new BMW looks nice...but if I were buying one, I think I'd be planning on keeping it longer than a year or two...therefore, guess I'd say go for the used one...

I agree. It shouldn't take long to find a good 993. Granted if you are looking for a screaming good deal on one then it might take a while, but the money you save on the 993 will likely be offset several times over by the depreciation hit you get from driving a new BMW in the interim. It seems it would make more financial sense to pay a premium for an excellent 993 now, especially if thats the car you REALLY want?

Okay, just when you don't think you can find a nice 993, guess what showed up a few miles from my house.

Thanks guys.

$46k for a ZHP? No thanks. Besides, if you want a sporty coupe, go for the M3 (SMG is better than the slushbox too if you only want two pedals). You can find plenty of nice, barely used examples for that price. Personally, I would only consider the premium of the ZHP package if you were looking for a sedan, as they obviously don't make the M in a 4-door. I have a 330ci coupe right now, and am thinking trading for the sedan. The coupe doors are big, heavy, and cumbersome. Plus, I don't like the fact that they are "frameless", and have the .5" roll-down on exit/entry. Nice concept, but not worth the trade-off in premature wear on the window components IMO. The (E46) coupes/sedans also share the same performance and are virtually the same weight.

However, a 993 over a 3-series bimmer is the no-brainer!
