A good freind of mind had me doubled over laughing the other day. People misjudge this guy all the time. He came up rough, boxed from very young then got into martial arts (some hard form with only 2 belts). For many years now he's made a very good living selling beauty supplies. Consequently, his demeanor is somewhat effeminate. His 17 year old neice is at a swimming party at his house & is telling him how she's a black belt now. He cautions her not to get too carried away with her newfound confidence & skills "cause there are still people on the street who will hurt her. She wants to spar a little so (his words) we do a little dancing around. Again he cautions her. She replies that with what she now knows, she's confident she can handle herself in any situation. "Not so" he says. She positions herself and says OK go ahead & try some "street stuff" on me. He spit in her face & slaps her with a left, right combination. She starts crying. Point made!

Another good story. Same buddy goes to the grocery with his (harmless baby of a) 130# German Shephard. At the grocery the dog slips out of the car and runs over to a young black couple, trying to get petted. He calls the dog back & appologizes to the couple. On the way in the guy tells him "I'll kill that f**kin' dog." My buddy ignores him and goes on in. In passing in the store the guy repeats "I'll kill that f**kin' dog." My buddy ignores. Now the guy has his chest out, thinking my buddy is intimidated. My buddy is picking up a bottle of cooking oil & the guy repeats a 3rd time. My bud spins around & shoves the guy against the counter with the jug of oil & tells him, "I have a (legal) pistol in my pocket & I'll kill you & your whole family before I let you hurt my dog." Homeboy had no comment & slunk away.

PS IMHO boxers are top of the heap because they are used to a. slipping punches & b. taking a shot. You hit a karate (or anything else) guy with a good shot and it's not something he's used to so you have time to deal. Not so with a boxer. 1st, he's harder to hit, 2nd he will counter much faster cause the punch is something he's used to.

A boxer ain't coming after you when he's got a pair of broken knees.

I agree. Cement his feet into place & kick 'em in the knee.

I ran with a rough crowd when in high school. (Conroe, TX) one of my buddies Kevin Murdoch (who is apparently serving time) - skinny boy about 6'1" about 160. He was famous for picking fights with the biggest guy in the place. Of course, being his friends - we watched his back. I think my whole junior and senior year I had skinned knuckles from some altercation or another.

One time we cleared a bar off 610 loop. I was dancing and ass grabbing some guy's wife on the dance floor. The hubby was making a bee line for me with a pool cue. Kevin hit him just as a swung. I ended up (as well as my buddies)crawling out of that bar between the picnic tables just as the cops showed up...

I have too much to lose to start anything now - but I remember what it's like to get hit - and the guy that made the boxing comment was right. You learn to come back and hit harder and stronger.

Superglue works just fine.
