Wasn't it around the time of the Civil War when shoes were finally made specifically for the right and left foot? I don't know about you guys but I think the arch support tops sliced bread.

One may also argue that a nice clean pair of cotton undies help fight disease as well. Maybe not as well as a crapper though...
