What was the best thing BEFORE sliced bread?
Tired, worn out, and in a weird mood, yet still happy to have sold my old house this week. I need more garage space! Oh yeah and maybe an extra bedroom and bathroom or two. :)
So what Was the best thing before sliced bread? Edit: [Sliced bread was made publicly available in July 1928] |

When you consider the health impacts these days of most sliced breads, one might be tempted to suggest opium.
How about language? Without words, we'd all be sitting here typing and trying to decypher elaborate sequences of smilies! ;) Les |
Great news on selling the old house. We *finally* closed on our old house a week or two ago. Making two house payments for 8 months was not fun.
George Carlin used to comment on the "sliced bread" thing. Thousands of years of civilization and that's all we can come up with? Sliced bread? Also, what about, "the whole country's going down the tubes". What tubes? You'd think somebody would have noticed tubes big enough for the whole country to go down 'em... (my apologies for bad paraphrasing of George's skits...) Oh well...it's Friday. Mike |

The gas powered street lamp, it allowed people to walk outside in the dark at night without carrying a lantern.
Provided you were near a street with the lamps anyway. |
