WD 160 Gig hard drive for $30
Thought I'd share a good deal with the rest....
Edited -- too spam-ish, IMHO. -Z-man.

spam-ish? I didn't see the link, maybe it was a shady company, but a member with 8500+ posts that found a good deal doesn't look spam-ish to me.
My 250 LaCie firewire drive is almost full... I need to find another drive and enclosure so I can keep on keepin' on.

cowtown - I got one sitting on a shelf if you really miss it that bad
![]() I was gonna get a new drive last weekend (120gb) but ended up geting a DVD burner instead. Now that I've archived off 30gb of music and porn I never looked at or listedned to anyway, I don't need the extra drive space

Thanks, Z.
I wouldn't post a "deal" from a questionable company...you have my word ![]() http://www.slickdeals.net/#p6130 BTW, it's a good idea to read the "comments" section to get detail on the reimburement process.

I just picked a WD 120gig from fry's, $85 with $60 in rebates, some customer apprecitaion sale, saw best buy had an 80gig for $20, just keep an eye out in the ads, i now have 2x 120's, and an 80, among quite a few that are no longer in working condition........ if you happen to run across an ibm deskstar 60 gxp, i need the board that the ide cable plugs into thta has all the chips on it, no idea what it's called, may also have been sold under hitachi 60 gxp.

Glad to help guys.
I hear about Frys all the time. I'm guessing it's a California based chain, none around here.

Fry's has an online store
www.outpost.com Lots of deals there as well. We have one here in Georgia and it is geek heaven.

Well, it depends, do you know what the series is?... I am not sure what the compatibility is but i have tried the boards from a 120gxp and an 80gxp with no luck, my guess is that only a 60gxp series board will be compatible, and even if yours is a 60gxp, if it's failing for the same reason mine did, it wil not work. But if it is a 60 gxp series, i would like the chance to try the board on my drive in an attempt to retrieve my data. I have been looking to find one, but the 60 gxp is so old, i have difficulty finding them. let me know.

Ebay may be your best bet. Here's one that sold recently:
Or here for outright purchase: http://ase.dealtime.com/xPO-IBM_HDRIVE_80GB_ULTRA_ATA_7200RPM

That auction says it is a gxp, unfortunately deskstar gxp is the term for a series of hard drives that were manufactured by ibm, and then hitachi, there are numerous series within this product line, including 14gxp, 22gxp, 34gxp, 60gxp, 75gxp, 120gxp, 180gxp, this designation has nothing to do with capacity, the 60gxp series i am looking for range from 20gb to 80gb, and any capactiy drive from the 60gxp series will work. I constantly check ebay, but the ones that pop up there tend to be fully functioning drives, and i am reluctant to get in a bidding war when all i need is the board. Thank you for the link though.
