Promoting on-line dot com business

I lost my job last week and I'd like to promote a small on-line business that i currently have to sell books.
What are some good ways to promote an on-line bookstore?
My inventory is very limited at this point, but I'd like to earn some extra cash to pay bills while i'm out of work.

any advice/helpful criticism from people who are running their own DOTCOM would be highly appreciated. thanks in advance.

ebay would be one option, another would be to participate in relevant forums and gently introduce your product as opportunity arises, ala Chuck Moreland/Elephant Racing. It's a crowded net out there - tread lightly!

Have you looked into signing up with Amazon?

I know with my bizz, as Thom suggested I got involoved in a bunch of forums that are directly or indirectly related to our products. It seems tobe getting our name out there. I advertize on two of the larger forums for about $50.00 a month.
