The reason for the toilet paper in the trash can is because 3rd world countries septic/sewage systems cannot handle paper products. It is quite common south of the border to put the paper products in a trash can as nasty as that sounds.

I've got to save this thread so that when I'm on my deathbed, I can look at it and not feel so bad about leaving this planet.

Just for the record, I use my feet for all flushing/seat raising/etc. functions in public restrooms. And exit Howard Hughes style.

I worked in a office where on of the female agents had a bowl of loose M&M's for everyone. One day I was in her office in in comes this male agent who is KNOWN for not washing his hands. He comes right out of the men's room, into her office and proceeds to dig through the bowl of M&M's for the "red" ones. As soon as he left, I informed her of his bathroom habits.
Next day, wrapped hard candy!

Preach on, brother Dennis.

I'd write down the step-by-step strategy I use to avoid making contact with any surfaces in the bathroom, but I've got a meeting to go to in an hour...

I went to the can the other day, only to find a stream of sticky white stuff in the bowl. I flushed first, but it "stuck". Friggen sick, polish yer knob on yer own time. Dang! Then, there are the doods who leave a big ol' turd in the bowl, as if to display a trophy or something. I use to work with a middle-eastern guy who would stand on the toilet seat and squat, just as if he were back home crapping in a hole in the ground. One day, he "missed"...and left it hanging there. I cannot believe these people are "responsible adults". My 5 year old has much better manners.

What? They do not teach the proper methods in the "Welcome to America" class?

I do the same thing, minus the Howard Hughes style thing, as I'm not totally sure what you mean there

No paper towel, so I knew the dude hadn't washed his hands. I left to dine elsewhere.
You should go to a Moslem country. The do not use paper to wipe themselves. Its always done with the left hand, no paper, just the hand. Thats why you never touch anyone with your left hand because its "unclean" so to speak.

When someone gets caught stealing they chop their right hand off so they can still clean themself. Rarely do you find someone with both hands chopped off over there but it happens.

I used to work in a building on the same floor as the IRS. One of the agents had a daily ritual to go into a stall, strip down completely (shoes and socks included), and neatly fold his clothes and set them on the floor under the stall door. All you would see is his bare feet on the floor on either side of the bowl.

In "The Aviator", there is a scene where Hughes gets stuck in a men's room because he won't touch the door. I either use my foot or a paper towel to open the door.

I've noticed more and more public restrooms with the electric eye auto flush on the cans/urinals/sinks. You don't have to touch anything.

Ah, I haven't seen it yet, but it's high on my to-do list.
