				Interesting night out last friday.

Last friday, I was working on some music (hip-hop) with an NFL football player who plays for the 49'ers. At a studio in san jose he was to be filmed for a documentary tentatively titled, "Inside the NFL" for BBC. There were about eight people there, camera crew, assistants and two blokes who were giving the interview. One of them was David James, goalie for Manchester City and England. The other was Martin Johnson, a rugby player, recently retired. They were both the same age as me (34) and we all seemed to get along really well. D.J. was really into Dj'ing and me being a scratch/mix DJ I talked to him about the times I spent touring in England and about some of the DJ's I know out there. It was pretty cool that these guys were so down to earth, but then again I didn't really know who they were since I don't spend any time watching sports. After the studio session the guys said they'd be going up to SF, staying at the Westin Saint Francis. I told them that that is where I was heading and would they like to go out to some clubs/bars while they were up there. We all met up at a place called Solstice on Divisadero and California street, it's a trendy bar/restaurant with a DJ that plays everything from Hip-Hop, R&B, House and whatever else can get you to dance. Later we went out to the Redwood Room at the Clift Hotel. Only one person recognised D.J. and said that he was a big fan. Martin on the other hand wasn't too famous out here, I don't think anyone watches rugby. He's 6'7 and he had the cauliflower ears and was pretty intimidating, I was trying to get him to be my bodygaurd while I was at the Redwood Room if my mouth got me into any trouble, which it has been known to do. All said, they were good people and said they'd show me around next time I'm out in London.

I'd recognise Martin Johnson in a second.... but not David James. Soccer is totally marginalised by rugby in New Zealand.

He's got quite a distinctive head on him. Not too many ways to get ears like that. Tabs - what does M stand for? You'll have to spell it out for me. I'm kind of slow when people get all oblique like that.
