That's amusing.

Another 'finger' anecdote. I had dinner with him once. Among other things, he told me a story about his father losing a finger. Maybe there's something more to this?

I'll tell you this. Having met quite a few 'stars' of that industry, he is the only one I really liked and respected. Very nice guy, easy going and a good conversationalist.

he always comes through as a down to earth guy, whenever I hear an interview with him.... maybe b/c he was a carpenter instead of a "child actor" before all this?

IIRC correctly, he attended Beloit College. I've run into some people who knew him (or of him) in college and said that he was quite the hell-raiser.

Not that that is a bad thing. To quote a wise man: "There is a time and a place for everything. That time is college."

Friend of mine worked on a set with him. Said he really liked to blaze in his trailer.

Who woulda thought Han Solo enjoyed the herb?

Actually I think it is a DeHaviland Beaver not an Otter.
I heard him speak at "Theater in The Woods" last summer at Oshkosh to speak about his new role as Young Eagles chairman.
He seemed pretty relaxed and low key. Gotta admire a guy who
enjoys his Beaver now and then!

The story that Coppola tells about Ford is that while performing his scene in Apocolypse Now.. he fumbled some papers...which annoyed the Assistant Director... but Coppola stopped him from chastising Ford by saying that it was part of his acting in the scene. Thats how good of an actor Ford really is...

That was subtle, and a good one. I bet that comment slipped by some.

Well-known big-time stoner. But I've never heard anyone say anything really bad about him.
