I posted this on the other thread in the 911 forum, but I think its worth saying again:
It looks like ****. It sounds like ****. What a terrible crossover from the original show. The NTSC conversion has sped everything up by 20% so Clarkson and the boys are rushing rushing talking talking can't slow down!!!. They also took out most of the art scenes (the slow shots of the cars moving, a bunch of the comentary too) so it looks rushed. You don't really get a chance to really enjoy the reports, they are constantly moving onto something else. Trust me: The US version is the hyperactive, uber-annoying, ADD version of the original. If you haven't seen the real thing, you're truely missing out. The BBC version doesn't even have commercials

Leave it to our networks to ruin the only good car show on TV.

The whole times they were driving the Jaguar, 911, and BMW on the beach, I kept thinking about the finish on those cars...

Speaking of Top Gear, whatever happened to 5th Gear? I know it was a Top Gear knock-off, but it was still the best car show on US TV. Did they not kiss enough ass, like the other car shows, and were pulled for putting advertising dollars at risk? That's what irks me most about the Spike and Speed car shows, well that and their horrible acting, hateable hosts, high school production quality, and overall dullness. You know damn well that many of the cars they give glowing reviews (all of them) are pieces of ****e, they're just not allowed to say it. That's the great things about the UK shows, if a car is crap, they make sure you know it. Same with the magazine CAR, I love reading the reviews in the back, funny as hell. Car and Driver used to have an opinion, but I think political correctness is finally getting the better of them as well.
Anybody know where you can download old Top Gear episodes?

All of the TopGear episodes are available using BitTorrent, thats how we get ours (including the most recent ones from this season).
5thGear, as I understand it, was a show on BBC3 (the PAX/WB of UK TV) that was in dire need of a makeover. They asked Clarkson to come on but he demanded that he be able to say whatever he liked about whatever car he wanted to... the BBC said yes, TopGear was born (reborn?). You'll often hear Clarkson make inside jokes about 5thGear here and there in the TopGear episodes, its pretty funny. The US episode we saw last night was not a full episode from the UK, but rather a mix of various segments from lots of shows that were all mixed together. The UK version has a pretty funny "news" portion where they mostly trash on ugly new cars and whatever new traffic law has just been passed in the UK, including the Govt. dolt who is responsible for it. They also do a celebrity (usually an English celeb) interview and timed run around the track which is usually pretty funny.

I saw part of Pinks, thought it was kind of over-done and lame. In the end, one of them lost their car (Camaro), but it wasn't as cool as it looked.

Saw Pinks, then removed it from my Tivo Wishlist. God that host is a punk-a$$ blowhard. I think it must be for a younger demographic than me.
I like Top Gear, and Fifth Gear is being rerun on Speed. I wasn't aware that Top Gear was being edited as Matt says. That's a shame...but I'll watch it anyway.
