Is this the end?

Will they make more money off this than a 4-cyl, 2,000lb mid-engined entry level Porsche for $30,000?

You know the limo version of the 09 Porsche Panamera is just around the corner, right?

Handles like a Porsche will have a new meaning.

Move that engine from mid to back end and you've just described a 356... strangely, given for inflation and whatnot, the $3750 my dad paid for my C coupe new isn't much more than the $30k you mention...

I kinda like it! I've been toying around the idea of picking up a CLS500. Too bad its still a few years out. I'd rather give my money to Porsche than MBZ and their crap build quality.

With the retro craze and my own personal taste, I'd go for a factory updated version of a speedster. Although I've been told safety features and Federal Guidelines account for about 1,000 lbs of a current new car.

It's hit the AP news wire.....more information - take it like a man.

A retail price for the model wasn't released, but analysts have said it could range from $125,000 to $175,000 per car, depending on the options.
Yikes!

Hmmm...

Weren't we supposed to tolerate the Cayenne with the implied promise that the cash flow increase would allow Porsche go get back into marque racing?

So now we have this? Let's see: manufacturer's championship racing or sedan...manufacturer's championship racing or sedan...........?

Sounds like sound competition for the Maserati Quattroporte, whatever the top-end Aston is now, Bentley Continental, and the Ferrari 612

Agreed. Porsche would be wise to follow the retro trend (and not with just an updated Boxster). I like the idea behind this concept that Belgian company PGO came up a while back:

Well, this is a start at least:

That name just doesn't work. I keep wanting to say panarama or panamerica or panera.

It's like some made-up word from a committee of guys in turtlenecks and thick soled shoes.
