Man I can't believe all the astronomers on this board. Who would have known? I thought I was the only "sky geek". Dhoward that is some serious glass you have there! CCD and all! is that an 8 or 10 Cass?

When I stopped wearing my tin foil hat, I also got rid of the telescope.
I am absolutely certain that aliens could see in my bedroom backwards thru the telescope. Nuff said. |

Are you going to get busier now that the hockey thing is settled? |
Kev! The shower thing worked for you????? There's no prob now that I live on the boat with the shower drain. It is below the water line, so the sump pump keeps the critters at bay.
It's the little glowing thingys in the toilet at night when I flush with the lights off that have me worried. My phone started ringing two days before the settlement. Funny thing, we had all gotten so much fill in work that is easier, and pays more, there is a big meeting next week (when I get back from boating in Sardinia) to discuss staying where we are, or going back to the hockey grind. Will be interesting since all the old rules and cost limitations are gone. The owners cancelled the old contracts, and it IS a different world now. |
8" Meade LX-90
Starlight Express MX5C CCD 80MM guide Scope w/ Meade 216XT autoguider I drive the scope with a Vaio laptop as well as running the imaging and guiding apps. It's not exceptionally dark where I live, by any stretch, but I have pulled some decent images out... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1121530981.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1121531002.jpg |

If you hear of anyone looking to fill a seat, I am somewhat in the market! Not much G-bird time (10-20 hours) but thousands in the 604! Have fun in Sardinia. Always liked the Med! Used to vacation in Turkey all the time and miss it these days. JoeA |

Kevin,
Ever scuba dive? Ever do it at night? Wave your hand around in the water and watch the lights ... Aside from just knowing that there is a shark 1 foot past the dive light, its very interesting to do a night dive. Everything feeds at night (course you could be the main meal) and lots of fish out there. The water just glows when you move your hands and really gets your attention the first time you do it. JoeA |
I did some diving in my younger years. I lived on Okinawa and then in the PNW. Both were great dive areas although a world apart in regards to sea life and scenery. Can't say I've done a lot of night dives but a couple from time to time.
|
Am like you, been a diver for many years but few night dives. Did my last one on Baja and got talked into a night dive.
Never would have thought about it but just moving your hands around in the ocean at night is very interesting. Its worth trying sometime if you have not done it. JA |
What..... you guys thought I was kidding about the shower drain too?
|
JoeA;
The F/A with the crew I am with asked me at dinner (just a couple of hours ago while you were writing that) if I knew of any available 604 guys. She made me promise I wouldn't go there myself. I'll ask her in the morning (Cuz I NEVER wake up a F/A on the night before a trip) about who was looking, and PM you tomorrow afternoon our time with what I discover. Michael |
