my damn dog may have crossed the line...
what a bitcch! i have been running and excersising her. yesterday, despite having 3.5 hrs. of sleep, i did 10 miles with her on the beach. today, she hung out with me, while i toiled in the yard. off to home depot, and when i get home...WTF?!!! there is a piss spot on the bed!
my older dog, cannot get on the bed. GF's cat...maybe, but the pee wasnt stinky enough to be cat pee. it has to be my young mutt. i am gonna take her to the vet tomorrow, to make sure it isnt an health issue. but she isnt allowed on the furniture anyways. damn, i am mad as hell. my drycleaner is gonna be thrilled with the down comforter. and my bed is expensive and brand new....dangerous game the dog is playing. i need a plan guys. i cannot leave her outside, she freaks. i have a dog entrance so she can come and go. dont know what else to do. effen freebie pound dogs...grrrrr. this dog has cause some damage, and i simply fix things, but this is unacceptable.

Crate train him.
When you leave the house, he goes in the crate. Tom |

I'm no expert but this sounds like a dominance game to me, i.e. the dog is testing boundaries. You need to set some, quickly and firmly but of course without being cruel. One of the best things we ever did for our dogs, and ourselves, was to essentially make them "outside-only" dogs! It soon becomes very clear that coming inside, let alone jumping on furniture, etc. is "by invitation only".
Crate training is the same concept; you give the dog its own space where it feels safe, and boundaries are delineated for everyone. Most dogs will welcome the structure - remember they are not human and rely on leadership from an "alpha". Either way, you need to make sure to give them appropriate attention and rewards for good behavior. Just my $.02 as an absolute amateur but lifelong dog owner...

My sister's dog did that to my bed a few months ago, that little ****. I had to scrub the mattress and the cleaners loved my down comforter. Luckily they were able to clean it really well and get the stains out. Needless to say the dog if he comes in, he gets the floor. My dalmation would have never pulled anything like that.

This really should not happen. It's a question of training.
You must spend the time to properly socialize and acclimatize a dog - and if you do they would never dream of pissing on your bed - or worse. I have had dogs for many years - and none has ever done anything like this in the house. Please do not blame the dog when the trainer is to blame. Far too many f___ wits have dogs , when they really do not deserve them. my $0.02.

Maybe it got scared about something while you were out and panicked? Shouldn't happen, but there may be more to it. It's not like it happens often right?
Crates seem to be the "in" thing. Seemed kind of cruel at first, but now I can see the merits. As for the down comforter, you can wash in in Ivory Snow, delicate cycle and air dry. When it's almost dry, throw it in the dryer on low/no heat with some tennis balls, it will fluff it up when the tennis balls get bounced around into the comforter.........just an idea. -Chris

Echo what others are saying crate train it. You're better off with it pissing in a plastic kennel(crate) than on your rug or bed.
Also, take into account how many times do you let the dog out to do its bidness, combined with it's waking/eating/sleeping schedule. If it changes, expect different behavior from the pooch. |

I think the point of crate training is to teach them not to pee indoors, since they're adverse to peeing where they sleep. It sounds like something else is at play here, like expressing her unhappiness with being left alone. I don't know much about it, but it sounds like a training issue. Should be simple to get the info you need. I shut my bedroom door when I'm not home.

bummer, know where you are coming from.
my current dog, always a lab, has total free run outside, lots of acres, has a pond less than 500 yards away with other labs in tha same boat right next door. He gets walked daily, it is a ritual and at 5 yrs old still will do it in the house ![]() Sometimes he can't help it, sick or ate something that didn't agree with him but about 6 months ago he did it for the last time in the house, period. He now has to sleep in the daylight basement, a bed on the first floor and a bed downstairs. It has turned into his nighttime ritual and sometimes we do not even have to take him downstairs, he just goes down there by himself. All I can figure is the downstairs is his crate in his mind, he is now a very happy camper and so am I ![]()

My inlaws had a lab that used to like to run into town, it appears their 40 acres weren't enough. They got one of those remote controlled shock collars, it's amazing how well that dog minds now.

Dogs live in dens....the crate is a den, the house is a den...Carlton is right they don't ***** or pee where they sleep...
My Girl...won't poop in the house, but she will pee if excited, or if left for too long in the house...and there is one bedroom where the cat was that she marks... The Big Boy..won't pee in the house....but sometimes he will even start to crap in his bed....he is 106 lbs and is pushing 11 years..he went to the vet and everything checks out.... this is not a everyday occurence but once every 3 to 6 weeks... I think this is a physical problem associated with getting old...In the morning when he comes up to the bed I make sure I get up quickly and let him out...one morning he climbed up on the bed and lay down with me...and right there and then a load of George was deposited.. I truly think there is nothing better to wake up to than having to pick up a load of warm George in the morning...
