Matt out.
I find it really hard to believe that this turned so mean spirited in the middle. I was having a good laugh at the list when we started, then I started laughing at the posters that got their shorts in a twist.

Hey, lighten up out there!!!!

I'll smile and wave at ALL of you (unless you're in a Cayenne )

If it is a Porsche, it gets a wave or a flash from me. Period. Including Cayennes. Afterall, the Pepperwagon literally kept the company going financially a couple of years ago, when 996 and 986 sales were slumping.

Perhaps if we continue waving at ALL Porsches, those 'clueless drivers,' (regardless of what model they are driving) will take notice and realize there are more Porsche models out there than they thought.

With that said, My Carrera is better than your 944...

Just kidding.
Yeah, that's true. Sorry! Nice to see the true Porsche 911 and 944 fans posting some positive statements.

Hey Glenn, now that's the spirit!! Very cool!!! I'm in the Chicago area from time to time - mainly for the Strickly Sail boat show at Navy Pier. Let's have a beer!!

One thing I have noticed, and I hate to say, is the the ricers (street racers) seem to really notice my replica 924 Carrera GT - I think it's the bolt on flares and front nose vents - most can't figure out what it is and when you tell them it's 924 they give you a strange look - and even stranger when you tell 'em it only puts out 150hp (but that's pretty good for a 25 year old 4-banger) Not that I ever hang out with ricers, but we do run into them at some events.

Ok, so I shouldn't wave at Pepper-wagon folks because they use their Porsche to haul kids to school and get groceries.

I suppose that makes sense. They are using a race-inspired car to do mundane things.

Wait a second, Porsches are meant to be driven on the racetrack...

So, from now on, I should only wave at Porsches that I know are being driven the way Dr. Porsche expected them to be driven -- IE: RACED on a track. So I guess unless the car is on a trailer on the way to the track, or I'm driving by them on the track, I have no business waving at them. (Side note: when I do get a point-by at DE's, I do a quick 'wave of thanks' as I'm passing the car - be it a 911/914/944/Cayenne...etc.)

Besides, you never know when that grocery-getter soccer mom will turn into a Porsche junkie -- all it takes is one lap around a track or autox...

And while we're talking of the Pepper-wagon, the latest 'step child' Porsche, I have seen this car at both DE's and autocrosses. Even went for a couple of rides in them. They perform remarkable, despite their size and weight. It is as if they defy the laws of physics. There is definately a good doze of Porsche DNA in those cars...

Just throwin' some oil on the fire...

For the record... more men then women drive Cayenne's in my neck of the woods (Hermosa, Manhattan & El Segundo). I'd wave but I don't have a Porsche yet and I don't believe you guys would wave back...

Can I get a girl's shirt made?

Whoa, is there some new form of SUV racing I'm not aware of? Could I care?

Larry -
If you wear your helmet whist picking up milk and bread at the local foodstore, I'll be sure to wave at ya.

Even if you're driving a Cayenne.

Hey Chip - Grow up. This whole thing is a JOKE. Try to understand it, or have irony and satire not been part of your education?

Z- If'n I've got my helmet on, I'll expect a salute if I'm on my way to the grocery store, no matter what I'm driving.

I think a lot of 911 owners started out as 914/924/944 owners. My first Porsche was a 77 1/2 924. I remember how cool it felt when I would get a wave from a 911 owner while driving the 924. I have proceeded to own 2 911's (80SC, 70T) and now a Boxster, and I try to give a little of that friendly attitude back that I experienced with my 924. No, I don't ALWAYS wave first (although I often do) to every other Porsche out there, but I NEVER fail to at least return a wave that comes my way from any Porsche owner.

Just who are you calling old fat and rich.

First off, I am 25 which is not old yet, second I am definitely not fat just more well rounded and third I am far from rich with respect to money because I spend a good part of my income on my 911. However, I am rich in so many other ways, one of these is I have a 911 and absolutely love it. If you want to win an argument, attack the argument, not the person. Here is something for you to read up on ...

Okay, I can't read everything in here it is just too much!!!!

I know one thing and there has to be someone out there just like me, when I see a Porsche no matter what model or year I wish I was driving it!

I love all Porsches! Especially ones well taken care of. Yes, some guys driving new ones don't get it. My goal in life is to own the following models:

1) 356
2) 68-73 911, Done
3) 914
4) 911 SC, Done
5) 944 Turbo, Done
6) 928 S4/GT
7) 993
8) Boxster
9) 997 S

Yes, I know that this does not include everything, but includes a lot of the different models out there. Right now I am working on saving up enough money for a 997 S, remember it is hard to talk trash about a Normally Aspirated car that road and track tested at 3.8 - 60mph!!!!

P.S. I want a Shirt!!!!!!!!!!!

One thing that should be added:

Wave at any VW bus doing more than 50mph. He's either heroic (deserving a wave) or 911 powered anyway (also deserving).

Klaus
