Happy Bastille Day!

Just wanted to be the 1st on the board to wish everyone a Happy Bastille Day!

You know the start of the French Revolution?
The citizens overthrowing their government when it is overly oppressive.

Or is that someone elses decision / job?
(could not resist the political note)

Iam sorry but what does this have to do with my reference to an act in France in 1789. The second reference was about present day activities.

I do not know what you are getting at.

The Kool Aid crowd likes to diss France and ignore the 60 other countries that didn't buy the Iraq lies.

And of course, France gets no credit from them for being the first to step up and help in Afghanistan.

Vive la France!

Tim: the Kool Aid boys have already explained to us that "France didn't help much' in our Revolutionary War.

Uh huh.

Well then...I stand corrected.

Its a shame about all that wasted green space across from the White House.

Yes, I agree. It seems some either suffer shamefully short memories, or just a general knowledge of history.

Happy Birthday,
It was my Pop-Pops birthday also.
He was not French or Political, all he cared about was smoking, drinking and women!

Rush, Bastille Day

Ooh, there's no bread, let 'em eat cake
There's no end to what they'll take
Flaunt the fruits of noble birth
Wash the salt into the earth

But they're marching to Bastille Day.
The guillotine will claim her bloody prize.
Free the dungeons of the innocent
The king will kneel
And let his kingdom rise.

Ooh, there's stained velvet, dirty lace,
naked fear on every face
See them bow their heads to die
As we would bow as they rode by

And we're marching to Bastille Day
The guillotine will claim her bloody prize
Sing, oh choirs of cacophony
The king has kneeled
To let his kingdom rise.

Lessons taught but never learned
All around us anger burns
Guide the future by the past
Long ago the mould was cast

For they marched up to Bastille Day
The guillotine claimed her bloody prize
Hear the echoes of the centuries
power isn't all that money buys.

Yes, yes - "Liberty, Equality, Faternity" indeed!! For everyone.

But it is not only revolution, but defending freedom that needs to be appreciated as well.
