I was raised Jewish as well (in a do as I say not as I do environment) and am circ'd. When I got married, it was by a public notary that happened to be jewish. When our son was born, we decided that he should "look" like me, so he was circ'd as well... by a Jewish doctor. No official bris involved.

When Max was born I didn't want him to get the snip (hay a guy needs very little bit he can get right!), but Lisa strongly insisted he get his taken care of. Her rational was that the other kids in gym class would make fun of him - I don't know how many mens locker rooms my wife has been in and maybe I don't want to know but guys don't stare at each others willies or make fun of them (least not mine!).

Anyway - she won that battle. Now Max and Daddy are trimmed.

Lube, I think your wife ought to come up with 10 simple Rules for waving at other shlongs in the mens locker room. . ..depending on length of cut ....maybe a t-shirt . ..or better yet, a tank-top.

I can't believe you let her win that argument.

Monday morning rolls around and my unit hurt a bit. Course he had been at it for most of the weekend keeping the wife happy. Tuesday rolls around and it hurts worse so I go to the doctor.

He says "skin it so I can look" and after a few seconds finds the problem. Said "we can take care of this very easy" so I tell him to do it. "Not here, going to take an operation" he says, and it will be in the hospital. I was going to be circumcised at age 22...

You guys do not know pain until you have had Mr. Johnson cut on, then stitched up. When he tries to rear his ugly head it was not good. My wife came in the hospital room to visit afterwards. She was 5'11," very good looking and wearing a skirt that would show all her assets if she even slightly bent over, and he tried to "raise to the occasion" so to speak. Told her to never return unless she was in a nun's uniform and with no makeup etc.

It took months before Mr. Johnson was able to preform again and years before the scars looked even close to normal. As well having lived all my life to that point "uncut" and now the head was out in the open all the time, sensative is a good word for it. A female of any flavour went by and I got wood... took years for it to feel normal again.

Would I do it to a child? Still feel that this operation is not needed in 99% of the cases and with proper hygene the cancer issue is a moot point. If its done due to religious reasons then fine otherwise feel its a outdated procedure IMHO. Never had any health issues with it, before nor afterwards. If you wash (or have it washed ) daily its not an issue...

How about the chick factor.

Many chicks I've known over the years said they didn't care for the uncut.....I'm putting it politely. Is this true or were they giving me lip service?

Waiting for CoolChick to chime in. Maybe a different perspective. Approach the dilemma from the other end...you know what I mean.

The wife and I didn't even consider not cut. In fact I watched both boys being cut. Wife's Dr. did a good job on both...although the second one's a little crooked...and he's just now at the age where he's discovered it (not the crooked part).

I'm not from the US, but I voted anyway. I don't think it is an issue any more in other countries, outside of Israel.

I think it is barbaric. Why is male circumcision OK but female circumcision not? Keeping in mind that the latter is practised STILL TODAY in barbaric parts of the world.

With any normal degree of personal hygiene, having a foreskin is, and has never been, an issue.

Ask my wife, my 3 sisters-in-law and my mother, for that matter, if sexual issues ever came up. This is the way men were designed by Someone who should know better.

Le Roux

PS: Moses had the best response so far

Well; We're Jewish so there's not much discussion about if it would be done.

I was a bit worried though because of all the hype on the pain. The bottom line is; Pain heals - chicks dig scars and glory last forever.

What it did boil down to is that the wife wanted him to look like me (tall order considering that measuring post) so that he wouldn't be confused.

We're Jewish though so wasn't a real question. You're in an interfaith marriage though so there has to be some give and take. You have to decide if YOU can let this go or not. The circumcision is your son's covenant with God technically and if you're raising him to be Jewish (actively) then sooner or later it will likely come up that it needs to be done.

Have a bris; there are lots of Jewish Dr.s out there that perform them so you'll have a true moil and a Dr doing the procedure. Have it as soon as possible though before the boy starts to be aware of things. So, I suppose before the 8th day is in order.

If you have one; Talk to your rabbi and take your wife.

Has your wife converted or is that an issue as well? I'm not against interfaith marriages at all (My wife is not technically jewish but planning to do the conversion) but they do present some challenges - I'm sure this isn't your first.

She's also right - it is barbaric and it is mutilation. It's a sacrifice your boy is making in the name of his god (if he's to be jewish in upbrining).

By the way, I can attest to the pain and suffering as well on my own behalf and my boy's. He's 7 months old and hasn't really walked yet. He is standing up but not walking. He sure crawls fast though.

As someone who lives on the African continent, I would think you might know the HUGE difference.

Well, not really!! If one is mutilation, so is the other. Once you start cutting bits off, it does not matter if it is skin or not.

Cutting off a woman's Clitoris is not he same as removing a small excess of loose skin.

Guys, don't get me wrong. I'm against cutting anything off anyone, period. Sorry for bringing up female mutilation, it is an ugly topic.

"It's a sacrifice your boy is making in the name of his god "

Seems that the parents are the ones "giving."

. . ."giving" a numb dumb-stick to their boy.

Maybe just cut the whole thing off, and give him a strap-on. Just think of the sacrifice . . .not to mention the "staying power" . . and any size he wants.

While I agree with your ideas that its not a good thing, there is a big difference in what is done with the two sexes.

Male circumsicion is removing skin and only skin. Female is removing the clitoris which removes nerves and ends their chance of enjoying sex. If we did the same thing to the male as is done to the female, we might as well just cut the head off.

Do not feel that thats an option for the majority of guys...
