Any more Swedes / semiswedes out there ?

Probably wrong forum, but I thought I´d try anyway.

We do have a forum like this in Sweden. Sucks big time. Since the British and other US forums doesn´t quite have the quality and enthusiasm as this forum IMHO, I naturally turned a Pelicanhead.

Felling a bit off side though over here so just wondering if there are any Pelicans in the US that are originally from Sweden or have ancestors from back here.

Greetings SmileWavy

Sorry, not Swedish.....Risor, Norway. Some relatives still there, but my bunch left Norway about 150 years ago.

wholberg 07-27-2005 04:37 AM

Livi,

My ancestors are from Norway, but that's as close as I can admit to.

Kroggers 07-27-2005 04:42 AM

Hi there Markus,

Well you already know about me, the Norwegian living in Stockholm :)
I know that there are a few other Pelicans here from the Nordic. I have already spoken to a Pelican from Helsinki, and I keep falling over some posts from a Pelican in Norway :D

Maybe we should try to make something more out of the Nordic Pelicans? Maybe try to meet up from time to time??

safe 07-27-2005 05:52 AM

Well, Im still here. Trying to get my car started...

Kroggers 07-27-2005 05:59 AM

Where in Sweden are you Magnus?

livi 07-27-2005 06:56 AM

Well maybe we can have a T shirt like the wave thing but more of a Hells Angels model, two semi circles:

Pelican Heads
Scandinavia :D

Wavey 07-27-2005 07:13 AM

I've owned 7 Saabs over the years (2 now) - does that count?

livi 07-27-2005 07:26 AM

Wavey,

I see you carry the DANSK muffler parts too, so yes I guess you would qualify as a Hang Around !:D

kjb 07-27-2005 07:29 AM

I'm still here!

I was just home on vacation for two weeks, and I couldn't help noticing a ton more 928s than 911s on the streets of Stockholm.

safe 07-27-2005 08:48 AM

Kroggers: Im in Kalmar.

Kroggers 07-27-2005 08:53 AM

So Magnus, you are another Swedish Pelican in the South!!

Are there any other Pelicans in or close to Stockholm, or is it only me here :(

gaijindabe 07-27-2005 09:11 AM

My name came to England and then Ireland with the Norman invasion. Weren't they a bunch of Swedes really?

What is up with the modern Nordics anyway? They seem to have given up on all that raping and pillaging..

livi 07-27-2005 10:03 AM

gaijindabe,

The former fearful Nordic men has been subdued to mellow house tigers. I blame it on over 50 odd years of socialistic government ruling with the poor Royal family ripped of all power and perhaps a smidgen of womens lib..

BTW we do all our raping and pillaging in the Mediterranean nowadays. ;)

Kroggers 07-27-2005 10:08 AM

Hmmmmm, raping and pillaging http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/2ar15.gif http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/kwijl.gif

My dad's family emigrated in the mid-1800's from Smaland. Still have family on Oland. I was an exchange student in high school to a small town in Skane and visited some of them (my father's mother's mother's father's sister's grandchildren :) ) during a school vacation.

Does a Swedish ex-wife count?

Jack Olsen 07-28-2005 09:36 AM

I've got to move this thread out of the Tech Forum, in spite of the fact that my father is half Swedish (and half Norwegian), and in spite of the fact that my wife and I went to Stockholm for Christmas last year.

Here's a picture of us at the "Rat Pack Christmas" show at our hotel. I'd just made a trip to the Herring table, where one of the waiters was unable to keep himself from laughing out loud at my utter inability to serve myself in a way that even vaguely resepmbled an actual Swede. ;)

livi 07-29-2005 04:36 AM

So I deduct that age is applicable - but not origin - in the Tech Forum ???

Jack, you traitor of the fatherland...;)

beepbeep 07-30-2005 05:20 AM

Hehe...Swedish X-mas table...did you taste all those funny saussages and "schaps"? :)

BTW, I'm a Swede and live in Uppsala, 50 miles north of Stockholm. If there are any Pelicanites visiting Stockholm or surroundings, feel free to drop me a note...it would be fun to have a beer or such ;)

Jack,

Do not feel bad, its something you were either brought up with or it just does not happen.

Eating Herring is an art in many cases but it can be assisted by several shots of Aquivit. Store it in the freezer and bring it out at EVERY meal. You see, the fish need something to swim in while going down and the Aquivit helps them in this journey.

Kippered Herring is also good if you have some friends/co-workers who bother you. Just open the tin and start eating it around them. You will be amazed how fast they find something else to do or another place in the world to visit. Just do not tell them about the Aquivit... :)

Hej Som.

Not Swede but spent alot of time in Stockholm and Gothenborg when i was working with Digital Illusions. I have spent both Mid-Summer and Mid-Winter there, the former is *MUCH* better.

Lovely people, great culture, superb food. Would not mind being Swede.

I live in the city Kalmar, just by the Olands bridge, so from work I see Oland every day, its just a few miles.
This is a picture from my desk, it´s a very misty day in the picture so you can´t see Oland but otherwise, like today, its a great view.

Welcome guys! Actually I'm not Swedish but Finnish. However, I speak Swedish tough.
We have here "Nordic P-car Gruppe" with Mikko (Pelican-head also) at the moment recruiting some Catalans to join.

But honestly drop me a line/PM if some of you guys are coming here so I can organize some pillaging. :)

livi 08-03-2005 06:47 AM

Claro, hombre ! :D
