Boy Scouts - another thing

I would like to blame this one on GWB, but I am having a problem with that. Here is what I read.

More than 300 Scouts and visitors were treated Wednesday at the hospital at Fort A.P. Hill, the Army base hosting the event, and some were airlifted to surrounding hospitals with heat-related illnesses.

What I heard was the Secret Service only allowed the boys to bring two bottles of water (security reasons) into a crowed room/tent in very hot weather. Something kept Bush from showing up and talking to the group (about the tent powerline tragety), could of been thunder clouds nearby, does not really matter.

They waited hours, kids were passing out, getting sick..........it got bad, real bad. 300 of them had to be air-evacuated out by the military, ambulances would not of been quick enough - just way too many people affected.

How does a situation like this get so bad? Why is all this allowed to happen?

You see because of this I have accepted that Bush only does what his "handlers" tell him to. Mr. President the country is under attack we must leave now.

My Pet Goat...............Snopes.com tells us the upside down part was a photoshop. Still funny as heck though.

i guess they didnt award any, "get out of the hot tent" merit badges.

or the "tell your scout master you dont feel well" badge. these were not cub scouts, they should not have gotten in this situation. either way, i hope the kids are feeling better. glad they were not in the wilderness.

I work at Fort AP Hill sometimes. A coworker was down there this week, with his military ID and a legitimate work-related reason to be there, and he still had to spend 20 minutes explaining that no, he didn't have a jamboree pass, and yes, he was supposed to be there. They put a lot of effort into this thing and still people are dying and kids are going to the hospital. My mother worries about me driving cars fast and flying in helicopters, but sent me off to the Jamboree years ago without a second though. Now I wonder which is more dangerous...

Sorry about the disconnected rant. Is it time to go home yet?

The press is going to get so confused, should they?

A) Flood the airwaves with Boy Scouts "get killed" stories (which probably happens on a semi-regular basis).

Or

B) Flood the airwaves with "Run-Away Bride" stories (which probably happens on a semi-regular basis).

When you get big events in motion their hard to stop. This is why good leadership is so important.
An adult individual or even an animal would seek relief from the heat when left to think for itself.
