Dave - I think it is a great idea, but you need a charity cause. Some motorcycle clubs do the toys for tots and others do an abused kid assitence thing. Whats the handle? heck, the Shriners got the burn vics and the Lions got the eyes thing covered.

David McLaughlin 08-09-2005 08:19 AM

How about Humanity? Morality?Purity? Peace? Love? Ok, maybe that's too broad. When things develop we may do some rides and such but right now it's there's no money involved. Though I must say that is an angle I never thought about. Thanks.

will your background check be rather extensive?

then again god forgives, maybe i have a chance.

M.D. Holloway 08-09-2005 10:03 AM

I think the concept of "mission' is good. very organization needs purpose. Heck the VFW used to be about drinking and gambling (least when my Dad was post Comander!). I bet if you guys stick to one cuase, say abused children or some illness of choice it would help to focus to effort and drive to the greater good.

Our PCA region built a very nice house for abused women and children to live in while the a-holes get put away. It means work but it is very rewarding a a great thing to do. Take some time and talk to the founding members and see what they think. I bet one or two have some personal interest in working for a cuase that hits home.

Astounding.

This is what I get for wandering into the "Off Topic" section...

I want to point out an accurate historical point here: Christians were persecuted far longer and just as violently as African Americans in this country. It was just a lot longer ago. Anybody remember what those Romans used to do with Christians? Maybe it's apples and oranges, but if you are going to make blanket statements, make sure you remember your history.

oh, I think the Christians made up for lost time though in the middle ages...

I can't think of one race or religion that didn't get it's arse knocked around or just eliminated. Religion needs suffering - without it, it would just be meditation!

David McLaughlin 08-09-2005 02:24 PM

I could go for a few years of meditation about now. Now where do I get those funky brown robes?

M.D. Holloway 08-09-2005 02:53 PM

:D I actually taught zen and meditation for additional income while in grad school. Spent many and hour sitting in a zen centre. The hardest thing is nothing!

Now I get paid great for doing even less...

See what happens when we start excluding people in the interests of "keeping the faith" through insulating ourselves from the mainstream?

It all gets too hard. Was it Jesus who said: "man is not judged by whom he rejects but by whom he accepts"?

Even if he didn't he probably should have even as an afterthought. Would have sorted out a whole lot of issues like this one right from the word go.

I say throw the doors open to all comers and let your lifestyle be like a shining beacon of light, leading them from their futile attempts to find spiritual fulfilment on this earth through the amassing of material wealth.

Oh wait – this is a Porsche club.

David McLaughlin 08-10-2005 06:47 AM

Who's excluding people? I welcome every one. No wait. scratch that. I don't want closed minded people who love the world more than the Word and who also are not willing to listen to the truth in the gospel.

CISCO isn't about Porsches. It's about people. I've seen in the past weeks that each member is looking for something different.

I must say that I'm impressed with the level of knowledge many have shown here. Even those against this have a good knowledge of biblical ideas. Also, I want to thank those that have posted for keeping the level of maturity high.

If anyone has any questions about this group please contact me directly as I may not be checking back in here for awhile.

M.D. Holloway 08-10-2005 06:47 PM

Vic, just wondering but ...do you get that alot?

Victor 08-10-2005 06:54 PM

No - you'd be suprised what a popular bloke I am in person. No - really!

Chat boards do strange things to people.

How fun is that site going to be?;)

David McLaughlin, you are not "Britt" are you? Bummer about his little sister. The age of five can be a very impressionable period.

David McLaughlin 09-26-2005 08:28 AM

The CISCO site had an address change. Just posting incase someone was interested.

All I know is I won't join any club that would stoop to having me as a member...
