G9Girl Welcomes Fellow Pelican to Team

It's now been nearly 14 months since starting G9Girl and 5 months into a complete restructuring of the company. In this time we've launched several new lines, been written up in 2 major trade magazines and sales are strong as we head into the Spring '06 buying season.

But the high point has to be welcoming fellow Pelican, dd74 - David Dorion, to the team joining G9Girl as the Director of Communications. His responsibilities will entail managing the “Voice” of the company, including external press releases and other informative genres for G9Girl, focusing on our products and girl-empowerment infrastructure. More on Chain Reaction and BBoards to come.

He will also shape the internal message to engage retailers carrying the brand and executing the company’s humanitarian, drive-based marketing campaigns.

David currently holds the position of Director of Publishing for Clampett Studio Collections, a wholesale licensee of animation-related artwork associated with Warner Bros., DC Comics and Hanna-Barbera. He worked as a freelance animation writer for Warner Bros. Television Animation, contributing to animation scripts for the Batman and Superman series as well as “Pinky and the Brain,” “Animaniacs,” and “The Sylvester and Tweety Mysteries.” His efforts with the Batman series helped the production earn an Emmy Award in 1998. Before that, he was a staff writer with the Los Angeles Times, while also earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature and a Masters of Fine Arts degree in writing from the University of Southern California. David has published numerous short stories and poetry, including a collection of children’s short stories with Random House.

Welcome aboard David!

Thanks guys:
Shaun and I debated whether or not to announce this on the OT Forum, but concluded that despite whatever lively writing in which he and I have engaged with other OT members, we nonetheless highly respect each and every one of your opinions. We concluded that your views of G9 Girl share certain weight, and will continue to inform this forum of the company’s progress.

As you may know, particularly if you have seen the website www.g9girl.com, G9Girl is firstly a lifestyle brand rather than a company simply in the clothing business for tweens. It seeks to empower girls from 9-12 toward a life of success and awareness. There is, to date, no other company like it. Undoubtedly, seeing the exclusivity of G9Girl, I chomped at the bit to get involved with Shaun’s company.

In one week’s time, Shaun and I have established a two-tiered approach to public relations for G9Girl, have established future contacts within large retailers such as Macys, and are coming close to securing positions of exposure on an emerging cable-accessible parenting network that is in the final stages of obtaining $60 million in funding for its programming. Needless to say, things are booming for G9Girl. The Hollywood and larger retail angle is critical, and thus far, has begun to roll. Expect good things.

Thanks again!

Does this mean as loved and respected Pelicans, we will get a little extra advance notice of your I.P.O.?

Yet another example of the success(es) of the Pelican parts BBS.

You people never cease to amaze me. From the Bennet Porsche Restoration Project, to the PNW Mountain Runs. The step-by-step instructions I received from John Walker, all the way from Seattle (Along with all the others who helped). Grady Clay sharing his decades of experience, and now, a company still practically in it's infancy going coast to coast, with Shaun in the east and David out in LA.

Oh, how 'bout Widebody's removeable tops for cabs? And JMPRO's aftermarket equipment? It's simply amazing! You guys just constantly "Git 'er done!"

It's really an honor to be associated with ALL you guys!

Congrats, Shaun and David!

Randy

p.s. Shaun, how's that tranny coming? Have you determined which parts you need to replace yet?

Very nice. Sounds fantastic. Hope things continue to roll for you guys. It's amazing how well Pelican works at introducing people who otherwise would have never met. I met 20 Pelicans last weekend alone.

Joe, that's the plan exactly. My dream, seriously, is 5 years down the road be able to retire/take time out and just collect, restore and resell early cars as straight restorations or café racers. Not sure if it will happen, but it's a dream.

Thanks Randy, much appreciated! I'm getting the private placement out today, need to be in NY to walk a show this weekend, and am leaving next Sunday to come out and meet with David, walk another show, etc. That means I've got next Saturday to do the trans rebuild. I think we're going to do 1st through 3rd, new clutch, etc. I've got a fellow Pelican on board to help, so it all looks good. We'll see.

REALLY miss the car.

Well said David!

And guys, we want to launch a bulletin board very similar to Pelican, but there are serious hurdles to jump, most obviously security/predator concerns. I'll post a link later today and a brief description of our plan. Looking for help on "what can go wrong" and solutions.

in the end, it may not be feasible from a safety perspective, would love to have everyone weigh in.

Congrats guys! Go kick some a**.

Security/predator concerns, that's serious.

Worked the Mary-Kate and Ashley license for a few years and when we had them at shows we needed to hire cops to stand behind them.

Always felt bad for the girls when they would do signings and half the people on line were salivating fat sweaty old guys.

It made you want to puke.

Dave (DD74) very cool. Your staying in LA? You can meet fantastic people through Pelican. I'll be meeting a couple of guys in Toronto next week. Met some great guys in Tucson, Montreal and other places as well.
