Minute Men vs. Border Patrol In Arizona

I like that these privateers are helping secure the Border in AZ. Do you think the Government should step it up and build a better "wall" and hire more border patrol agents?
I do! These illegals are sucking the life out of our economey.

Hey, maybe we could merge our OT forum with the ACLU's or La Raza's or something, and then really have some entertainment! Stromberg would be busier than a one-legged man at an ass-kicking contest trying to fight them off one at a time. What do you say?

About 20 years ago, I remember reading an opinion piece in the Wall Street Journal by George Will regarding the subway shooting in New York by Bernard Goetz.. if you can remember that one. Anyway, the point of the article was that in a society, we make agreements with the government that we expect them to uphold. For example, they enforce the law and keep the peace, and we won't be vigilantes. When the government doesn't enforce its own laws, we take the law into our own hands. I see nothing wrong with citizens protecting our borders, if the government won't, or can't or whatever their excuse. Especially when the Minutemen are only helping the Border Patrol by finding these people, they aren't shooting, "arresting" or otherwise harming them. In fact, I read that they have given some illegals food and water while they kept them cornered.

Food and Water?????

Surely these people deserve better than food and water!

Seriously, if I were to take a stand on this, I would have to sat that the Minutemen have every right to be doing this, as along as they're doing it within the confines of the law.

Citizen's arrests aren't anything new, and that is really all these people are doing. If they're working in conjunction with INS, all the better.

I just dread for a time to come when someone gets seriously injured or killed. Then, all he!! will break loose.

I wonder if the people who are alarmed by this activity would feel the same way if these Minutemen were going after pedophiles. I'd bet even 360 would even support THAT!

i imagined stromberg out there already, gun in hand. you know brothers in arms fighting for the cause. maybe thats why he's been so quiet as of late?

kinda like when the NBC president russel dowremple joined green peace to impress elaine on seinfeld. remember he was lost at sea when he fell out of the boat trying to save the whales? soon after the show "jerry" was cancelled by the new NBC exec. ?

The government should do it's job and enforce the integrity of our borders. Having said that, I also think there should be a program like the old Brasero Program to bring foreign nationals in legally to work for a specified period of time.

Lived in Douglas and Bisbee for years a long time ago. It is the wild west down there. Bet you keep the apartments full with the all the guys at Fort Hunahuck (Fort Huachuca).

That said, we still wear a pistol on our hip around here at times. Its legal in Arizona and its our right, as well as sure helps on the robberies and car jackings. The visitors from the big cities in Cali and New York look funny when they see it but you know, they can go back home if they do not like it. This is still the West out here!

Stick it out. It will only take one time and you will be drained of blood before we let loose.

What they are doing is legal and you have no idea what a terrorist is by the way you are talking. Go over to the middle east for a while, get bombed a few times and then come back and enlighten us. BTDT and you have no idea until you have been in the middle of it.

My thoughts exactly. As long as the MM do not violate the law I say more power to them.

From what I have read, I'm not sure what anyone's complaint would be w/ what they (MM) are doing. It is simply a non-violent protest of unbelievably irresponsible, (and irresponsive), govt. non-policy.

No country, especially now, can be viable w/ open borders and no control over who migrates. That is just insanity, and it is what we have now.

If these MM people were abusing the illegal immigrants, that would be a different story. They would lose my support immediately.

Agree with the two above and what smokes me is that these illegals run across the border all day long, and the Border Patrol just cannot keep up with them.

We did not care until 9/11 when we realized that real terrorists can do the same and this needs to stop. I lived in El Paso years ago and driving to work we would see groups of 20 of them every few hundred yards a long the fence. They would wait until the coast is clear and cross.

These days they have found copies of the Koran in some of the waiting stations along the border. Doubt that many of the Mexican workers are practicing Moslems... This needs to stop and now.

Where else can you get rewarded for sneaking or breaking in to someones home. Then you can scream racist when they ask you to leave. How about the way the Mexican Govt treats Americans who break THIER laws. It is ONE-SIDED B.S. ALL THEY WAY.
It is the truth and it hurts when you admit it.........

Just think..

If Washington did what was necessary, there would be no need for the minutemen.

Talk about being out of touch with what the people want.
