Roomba robotic vacuum cleaner

So one of my buddies moved down to Houston, and basically got his first place by himself. Not having a few of the essentials, he went on a spree at Target.com and ordered a Roomba robotic vacuum cleaner.

At first, I gave him crap about it, because, though I think it would navigate well, I didn't think it would be any better than a dust-buster at actually getting up dirt and stuff from his carpet. Last weekend I went down to hang out, and got to see the Roomba in action. Pretty neat. Saw it go over some areas that definitely needed cleaning, and it amazingly got everything up! So he shows me what all it can do, and how you can control it, and make it concentrate on a spot, how it gets around things and handles getting stuck. All in all it's pretty amazing.

Then I opened the dust bin, where all the stuff gets dumped into, and I was AMAZED at how much crap it got up! He just moved into the apartment, which was cleaned before he moved in, and this little Roomba got up a TON of stuff!

So I ordered myself one from Target.com. I've gotten real lazy about vacuuming my place, so this little booger will help out greatly.

Anyone else got one?

I met the founder and chairman (woman) at a party the other night. She was pretty hot.

Well, she's hot in an MIT geeky kind of way.

Frankly I was impressed more with her speaking skills (another thing many MIT geeks that I work with are lacking).

I'd say the Japanese robotic chick with a vacuum attachment could solve many problems...

Did not meet her; attended a keynote session where she was the speaker.
