Question Kodak Brownie Camera

My neighbor has an old Kodak Brownie camera. The paperwork appears to be dated October '61. His question is if this camera is worth anything. He has the box, some 176 film, flash bulbs, a built in flash, and it is auto stop sensing. Thanks for any thoughts!

Very few of the Brownie models are worth anything due to the sheer #'s produced and surviving. Best thing is to cruise the vintage photo section of eBay, chances are he'll find several examples of the same model and what they sell for.

I collect cameras. Like 928 says they made millions of these cameras. The one you describe with the box $10-$20 at most. They made some specialty Brownie cameras which basically were different colors or had the name of some organization or t.v. show on them. They are worth a bit more.

I've seen a number of these float past. It's a brilliant campaign by Kodak, really -- super-cheap cameras sold by a film manufacturer so that people will expend the film, which was the bread and butter income. If it's still operable, it can be a lot of fun to play with, give to the kids, or whatever else, but don't count on a major windfall from selling it.

$20? We were hoping for closer to $30!!! It does have a starburst on it...

Yep, didn't expect too much. He has some other items I need to go through and post.

I bought an old fold-out camera at a yard sale when I was 16... I paid $5 for it.

Last year i was selling off a bunch of surplus crap, and decided I'd throw a few cameras on ebay. When looking for similar cameras, i was surprised to see ones like mine going for $200-500. It was a Kodak Petite with a rare art deco pattern on the lid, and I got $410 US for it due to it's excellent condition.

The $hitty part was that if I hadn't lost the original box & compact that it came with, I may have gotten another $200 for it
