To '67 R50... As an outsider, it seems to me the hatred for Bush is a little mental battle Democrats must go through as they find it incomprehensible that anyone would support the guy given his many failings. I'll note that most Republicans probably felt exactly the same way about Clinton. You should be worried about the opinions of those outside the US - as a country you are (generally) desperate to make sure that other countries behave in a certain way towards you - why should they feel any different. Should you listen? Seems like common sense to me. If social security goes bye bye, can you convince me you won't end up with a widespread poverty amongst retirees? Every aspect of human nature I've seen suggests that, left to our own devices, a significant percentage of us would screw up saving for retirement. The average person has no freakin' clue about investing and risk/return tradeoffs. Specifically, I mean that the average person is unable to understand the risk underlying their investment decisions. And Iraq... it is interesting watching the opinions polls which show the US people's view shifting in the direction of withdrawing from Iraq. Despite being mostly liberal and/or at least a little left wing, and more importantly, anti-war, I don't think there is any option other than staying the course to ensure there is at least a resemblance to peace there. However, it comes back to a point I've made before - I would hope that the Iraq "experience" will dampen the ardour of Bush and supporters for illegitimate, wasteful and pointless war. Finally, I think the reference to fake news reports was exactly that - Bush's team set up fake news reports on new policy and its talking points. Sorry for partisan link - the best I could find quickly: http://www.truthout.org/cgi-bin/artman/exec/view.cgi/38/9671 |
OK. I lied. I can't resist this one last post. But then that is it.

So why do we care now? I tell you why....because Bush is in the Whitehouse. It is just another outgrowth of that "Hate Bush" philosophy which has the Dems hypnotized. Quote:
1. SS WILL NOT BE THERE FOR YOUR RETIREMENT REGARDLESS. Aged people will end upon in poverty whether they have SS, and the pittance it pays out, or not. I am determined not to be one of those. 2. I am more confident in my own investment abilities and the abilities of the majority of most of my friends than I am in the abilities of the government. But I guess I am more optomistic about my fellow man than most of the self labled "Liberals" or "Democrats" on this board. Use to be that this was the party of the little guy, but after listening to you guys I could conclude that the Democratic Party Slogan is now: "WE ARE THE PARTY OF THE JAMES SPADER CHARACTER IN EVERY 1980'S MOLLY RINGWALD FILM". You know what I mean...the prep-school pretty boy, born with a silver spoon in his mouth who thinks anyone who wasn't moneyed from birth is stupid ugly and inferior. Sorry Fellas, but I don't think the Democratic party needs that right now. And.....Now I am done.SmileWavy |

I have been to Dachau and certainly believe in it. Why are you such a liar? Does that just come with being liberal? If you really have friends in the Army (seems pretty doubtful)...please send them to visit. I would like to buy them a beer at the O'club and then show them some of your posts. Please don't call me Bob. |

Question: I know it's much easier to talk about liberal nutjobs doing this or that than to actually question the current direction the country is going and offer substantive commentary, but is it patriotic? |
Only a liberal nutjob would whine about everything their country did..disgrace their dead son, and lie about things which were easily provable otherwise....or for that matter, call a person Bob when they knew it was not his name.
How many soldiers funerals have you been to? |
Wow. I just read through all of this (been gone for a few days) and I'm amazed at all the twists and turns this has taken. Remember, this study was commisioned by Democrats as a kind of a introspective look; a soul searching of sorts to try to come up with some answers to their decline at the polls. The answers are there; straight from the horses' mouths - the voters themselves. It will be telling to watch and see if the movers and shakers in the party can first comprehend those answers, then formulate a strategy from those answers. If the general tone of the liberals' replies on this thread are any indication, they are in bigger trouble than they realize.

Apparently it is easier to call names than to produce ideas.

Of all the people I know the blue collar guys have much more common sense having had to use it regularly, while the white collar folks have many more theories and are quite self-deluding when it comes to reality, having not had to face it very often. |
Me too Chris...apparently we are in the company of snobs.

Yep, another typical liberal.
